Hi Indira, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I have always been passionate about decorating for birthdays and celebrations for my friends and family.
Back in Nepal, there weren’t many decoration options available—mostly just basic, low-quality balloons. So I learned to create my own designs from scratch, making garlands and balloon bunches using simple materials like regular thread. That experience taught me creativity, resourcefulness, and how to make something beautiful even with limited resources.
I decorated my own baby shower for my daughter, and it turned out to be a truly dream experience for me. Shortly after that, due to COVID and becoming a new mother, I paused my creative work to focus on my child and complete my education.
After moving to Texas, I noticed how high the demand was for event decorations—and how expensive the services were. That reignited my passion and made me realize that this was something I genuinely loved and could turn into a business.
When my second child turned one, I initially reached out to a few friends to start the business as a partnership. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out due to mismatched expectations and lack of experience. That’s when I decided to take the leap and start my own decoration business as a sole owner.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The journey hasn’t been easy. I faced challenges with pricing, confidence, and learning the business side while perfecting my craft. However, over time, my skills, designs, and professionalism have grown significantly. Today, I’m proud to say that my work reflects my creativity and effort—and I now confidently charge what my art and service are truly worth
We’ve been impressed with DecorwithIndi, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Decor With Indi is a custom event decoration brand specializing in elegant balloon décor for birthdays, baby showers, and intimate celebrations. We’re known for clean designs, thoughtful color palettes, and personalized setups that enhance the entire space—not just a backdrop.
What sets us apart is our heart-led approach. Every design is created with intention and care, inspired by each client’s vision rather than one-size-fits-all trends.
