Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Coley.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My journey into entrepreneurship started long before I officially opened my own business. I spent five years working for another company as a tax professional, where I dedicated myself to learning the industry inside and out. During that time, I worked my way up into management, gaining hands-on experience not only with tax preparation but also with leadership, client relationships, and the business side of the industry.
While I was grateful for the experience, I knew I had a bigger vision. I saw how many people—especially women—needed guidance, support, and real financial education. In 2023, I took a leap of faith and started my own company, Pretty Precise Financial Services.
What began as a small tax preparation business quickly grew because my mission was always bigger than just filing returns. I focused on educating my clients, helping them understand their finances, and showing them strategies to build wealth while staying compliant. Word of mouth spread quickly as people began seeing real results.
As the demand for my services grew, I stayed committed to delivering accurate work, innovative tax strategies, and a level of care that made clients could trust. That dedication helped me scale my business faster than I ever imagined.
In just three years, what started as a vision in 2023 has grown into a million-dollar company. The growth didn’t happen by accident—it came from consistency, long nights, learning the industry at a deeper level, and always putting my clients first.
My goal has always been bigger than building a successful business. I want to uplift women, create a true sisterhood of support, and help others achieve financial freedom. I believe when women understand their finances and feel empowered in business, it changes families, communities, and generations.
Today, Pretty Precise Financial Services represents more than tax preparation—it represents empowerment, education, and the belief that betting on yourself can truly change your life
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not—it has definitely not been a smooth road. Like many entrepreneurs, especially in the financial services industry, the journey has come with its share of challenges.
The tax industry can be extremely competitive, and building trust with clients takes time, consistency, and proof of your work. In the beginning, one of the biggest challenges was establishing credibility while growing my own brand. Even with five years of prior experience as a tax professional and working my way up into management, stepping out on my own meant starting from the ground up and proving myself all over again.
Another challenge has been navigating the misconceptions people often have about taxes and the industry. Many clients come in with misinformation from social media or previous experiences, which means a big part of my job is education—helping people understand what is accurate, what is compliant, and what truly benefits them financially.
There were also the long hours and the pressure that comes with running a growing business. As an entrepreneur, you’re responsible for everything—from client relationships and strategy to operations and growth. Especially during tax season, the workload can be intense.
As a woman building a company in this space, there have also been moments where I had to work even harder to ensure my expertise and leadership were recognized. But those challenges pushed me to stay focused, sharpen my skills, and build a business that truly stands on integrity and results.
Looking back, every obstacle helped shape the business into what it is today. Those experiences strengthened my commitment to my mission: educating clients, building a supportive sisterhood for women in business, and helping others move toward financial freedom.
We’ve been impressed with Pretty Precise Financial Services, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Pretty Precise Financial Services is a financial and tax service company dedicated to helping individuals and business owners understand their finances, maximize their tax opportunities, and build long-term financial confidence. While many people see tax preparation as something that only happens once a year, my approach is much deeper than that. My business focuses on education, strategy, and empowering clients to truly understand their financial position.
We specialize in individual and self-employed tax preparation, tax strategy, and helping clients navigate the complexities of the tax system with accuracy and compliance. A large part of what we do is helping entrepreneurs and working professionals identify opportunities within the tax code that they may not have known existed.
What sets Pretty Precise Financial Services apart is the level of care and education we provide. My clients are not just another return in a system—they are individuals whose financial futures matter. I make it a priority to ensure clients understand what is happening with their taxes, why certain strategies work, and how they can position themselves better year after year.
Another thing that makes my brand unique is the community we are building. My vision has always been bigger than tax preparation. I want Pretty Precise Financial Services to be a space where women feel empowered to grow financially, ask questions confidently, and support each other along the way. Creating that sense of sisterhood and financial independence is something that is very important to me.
Brand-wise, what I’m most proud of is the trust we’ve built. In a relatively short time, the company has grown into a million-dollar business largely through referrals, word of mouth, and satisfied clients. That level of trust speaks volumes about the integrity, professionalism, and results that the brand represents.
What I want readers to know most about Pretty Precise Financial Services is that we are not just preparing taxes—we are helping people recognize their financial worth. My mission is to provide innovative tax strategies, accurate preparation, and financial insight that helps clients move closer to the freedom and stability they deserve.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
The quality that has been most important to my success is determination. Building a business requires persistence, especially in an industry like tax and financial services where accuracy, trust, and consistency are everything. There have been long hours, high-pressure seasons, and moments where things didn’t go exactly as planned, but my determination to keep growing, improving, and showing up for my clients has always pushed me forward.
Another characteristic that has played a major role is integrity. In this industry, people are trusting you with their personal and financial information, so honesty and transparency are essential. I’ve built my brand around doing things the right way—making sure my clients understand their finances, providing compliant strategies, and always putting their best interest first.
I also believe my passion for helping others succeed financially has made a huge difference. My goal has never been just to prepare taxes. I truly want people—especially women and entrepreneurs—to feel empowered when it comes to their finances. That purpose keeps me motivated and focused on continuing to grow my business while uplifting others along the way.
