Inspiring Conversations with Jasmine Glass of RudeStylez by Monae

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Glass.

Hi Jasmine, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Born and raised in a little city called Pine Bluff, Ar to Meta and Pastor/Dr. George Glass Jr. I’m currently 33 and started this wonderful journey at age 14 or 15. I started doing hair in junior high, (Jack Robey Jr High Pine Bluff, Ar) pretty much doing simple little braid styles and when I went to high school I started growing a higher interest in becoming a Cosmetologist, I grew up watching my mother do hair so I think it came honest.. I started with doing a lot of my friend’s hair for more practice and was able to start charging a few dollars, as years went on I moved to Bastrop, Louisiana at age 19 with my family and there I really begin to swore my wings and go after my passion, I gained a clientele, participated in local hair shows gaining more love and exposure. I enrolled in an apprentice program and became a barber stylist in 2016 and also opened my first boutique at the age of 25 (Fashion Bar) it included fashion, hair and hair extensions and so much more, it did great but I wanted more and the little area I lived in I had outgrown.

I got married Oct 2017(Darrell Dempsey) and we decided to packed up and moved to Dallas, Tx we did just that, the journey wasn’t easy moving to a bigger city with no family, but with faith and pray we definitely survived. Not knowing were to start, I Begin working in a salon in Duncanville, Tx I gained a lot of new clients, started selling hair extensions again and even added my custom wigs. Unfortunately, until covid hit , it forced me to leave the salon, leaving me to struggle and figure out what was next! I brainstormed, researched and create hair products for women with Alopecia, dry scalp, hair growth issues, sensitive scalp, irritation, I just wanted to create a healthier all natural and organic products and I did… They are Hair Snack Therapy Care “Luxury Treat’s your hair and scalp Crave” healthier goodies that restore and heal Naturally, the family can enjoy each product, we promote healthier hair and scalp, hair growth, moisture, more manageable hair, prevent dandruff, Breakage and odor.

Our Hair Snacks give amazing results and great for all hair texture. I only have it available on my website and the relaunch is November 26, 2021. I also started a few virtual online courses for starting a successful business, wig making, how to make hair care products in my Failure to Success University. This was a new path for me, but I had to survive the pandemic. It’s been difficult and rocky, but amazing new journey, I’m slowly stepping from behind the chair alittle, and focusing more on my amazing hair care Products, the world must try them! Coaching and building some more entrepreneurs, and I just recently joined an amazing nonprofit organization called Prolific Seed Inc where our Executive Director is Stephanie Vaughan, I dedicate a few hours everyday of the week to connect with the youth, feed, housing, educating and letting them know there is hope in their future. I’m so excited to join this beautiful organization into bettering our youth, helping them see beyond. I can’t wait to see what’s in store next.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has not been easy being Self-taught, I had to learn how to run a business, with no help I lost a lot of money, didn’t know my purpose, no structure or order, just living in the moment and it cause me a lot. I had to go back to the drawing board and re-think my life, if I wanted to become successful and really see my business grow. and I think this what make a lot of businesses fail.. lack of knowledge!
