Inspiring Conversations with John Walsh of BlackRock Plumbing Company

Today we’d like to introduce you to John Walsh.

Hi John, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started plumbing at just 18 years old, learning the trade hands-on under my best friend’s father in Boston. What began as a job quickly turned into a passion as I learned the value of hard work, precision, and doing things the right way.

Looking to grow both personally and professionally, I moved to Texas, where I expanded my experience working on a wide range of residential and commercial plumbing systems. That journey even took me overseas to the Cayman Islands, where I spent four months plumbing in a completely different environment—adapting to new challenges and high-end installations that sharpened my skills even further.

After returning to North Dallas, I continued building my career, combining everything I’d learned along the way. By 30 years old, that experience, work ethic, and passion led me to take the leap into entrepreneurship and start my own plumbing business—built on honesty, quality workmanship, and pride in the trade.

Plumbing isn’t just what I do—it’s what I’ve grown up doing.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Has it been a smooth road?
Not even close.

Like most real careers in the trades, the path hasn’t been easy or predictable. There were long days, tight jobs, setbacks, and moments where quitting would’ve been the easier option. Moving states, working overseas, learning new codes, starting over more than once—and eventually taking on the risk of running a business—each came with challenges.

But every obstacle became a lesson. Every mistake sharpened my skills. Every hard season built the discipline and resilience that got me here. The rough road is what shaped my standards, my work ethic, and the way I treat customers today.

If it had been smooth, it wouldn’t be worth much.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about BlackRock Plumbing Company?
At its core, our business is built on experience, accountability, and doing plumbing the right way. We provide full-service residential and commercial plumbing, specializing in drain and sewer work, slab repairs, re-plumbing, gas lines, water heaters, and code-compliant system corrections. We’re often called in to fix work that wasn’t done correctly the first time—especially jobs that require inspections, proper venting, and long-term reliability.

What sets us apart is depth of experience and standards. Having worked in multiple states and even internationally, we bring a broad understanding of plumbing systems, codes, and real-world problem solving. We don’t cut corners, we don’t upsell what isn’t needed, and we don’t disappear after the job is done. Every installation is treated as if it were going into our own home or business.

Brand-wise, what we’re most proud of is our reputation. Our name is built on rock solid consistency, transparency, and craftsmanship. Customers know that when we show up, the job will be done correctly, cleanly, and with respect for their property and time. We stand behind our work and take pride in being dependable in an industry where trust matters.

We want readers to know that we’re not just another plumbing company—we’re tradespeople who take ownership of our work. Whether it’s a small repair or a complex commercial project, our goal is always the same: deliver quality plumbing solutions that last, backed by experience and integrity.
