Hi Junior, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name is Mr. Junior Kalonji, originally from Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, and now a proud American citizen. I am married to Mrs. Tanya Kambaji, and we are blessed with three children: two boys and a daughter (our youngest). I am a Christian and a devoted servant of God.
I immigrated to the United States in 2013 through the Diversity Visa (DV) Lottery Program. In 2018, together with my wife, we founded Oasis Group TX, a company specializing in tax preparation, insurance, and real estate services. The idea of starting this business came from the growing demand for these services within our community. Over time, our services expanded to serve a diverse clientele, including American, Hispanic, and various African communities.
Driven by the same entrepreneurial spirit, we later launched Sharp Edge Auto LLC, focusing on car sales, and Oasis Furniture, a custom furniture manufacturing business.
Today, our core team consists of three permanent members:
• CEO: Junior Kalonji
• CFO: Tanya Kambaji
• General Manager (GM): Bedi Ngalula
In addition, we collaborate with over 20 subcontractors, allowing us to deliver tailored and high-quality services to our clients.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
We have faced many challenges along the way.
Financially, like any business in its early stages, we started with very limited resources and no initial capital, which made the beginning extremely difficult.
Logistically, we had to find an office space, commit to paying rent every month, and work tirelessly to promote our services within the community.
Informationally, it was a major challenge to gather the right information, meet the regulatory requirements, and obtain all the necessary licenses to be officially recognized by the State of Texas.
