Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaila Cummings.
Hi Kaila , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey into body sculpting started in a way I never expected — with skepticism. A friend offered me three free sessions, and I agreed mostly because they were free. I went in with no expectations and didn’t truly believe I’d see results, so when I actually started noticing changes, I was genuinely surprised.
That experience sparked something in me. I became curious about how the treatments worked and found myself wanting to understand the science behind them. At first, I was learning purely for myself. I didn’t have a business plan or a long-term vision — I was just fascinated and genuinely enjoyed the process.
Over time, that curiosity turned into confidence, and I realized I had the ability to help others feel the same excitement and self-confidence I was feeling. Becoming a woman-owned small business owner meant learning everything as I went — from certifications and continuing education to pricing, branding, and the realities of running a business day to day. While I’ve had support and guidance along the way, this journey has been deeply personal and very much my own.
I built my business with intention, focusing on creating a space where people feel comfortable, safe, and supported. I truly love what I do — so much so that I often say I’d do it for free, and sometimes I actually have. I’ve traded sessions for things like someone bringing me dinner, simply because connection and care matter more to me than transactions.
I know I could charge more for my services, but keeping them accessible has always been important to me. I care more about the person than the paycheck, and my goal is for every client to leave feeling relaxed, uplifted, and confident in themselves. Established in 2024, this business reflects not just what I do, but who I am — and I’m incredibly grateful for the journey that led me here.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. One of my biggest challenges early on was social media and digital marketing. When I first started, I truly believed I could grow through word of mouth and flyers alone. I quickly learned that in today’s world, having a consistent social media presence is almost essential — and that consistency can feel overwhelming.
Creating content was a much bigger task than I ever expected. I had no idea how much time and energy went into something as simple as a 30-second reel with a caption that actually grabs attention and keeps it. Even now, it can still feel like a lot. I eventually reached out to a friend who was just starting out in digital marketing, and she was incredibly helpful. But as much as I wanted to continue, I had to pause her services when the numbers just weren’t there yet. That was a tough but necessary lesson in balancing growth with sustainability.
Another challenge was building a website that truly reflected my business. I started out using Canva, but eventually invested in a website design team through Wix to create something more professional — a place where people could learn about my services, book appointments, process payments, and really get a feel for what I offer. It wasn’t cheap, but having everything in one place lifted a huge weight off my shoulders.
Location has also been a learning curve. While I don’t work in my home, I do work at my home, out of a private suite built next to it. Because there’s no brick-and-mortar storefront in town, I completely understand the hesitation some people may feel about coming to someone’s property, especially if they don’t know me yet. Building trust, visibility, and comfort has taken time — and it’s something I continue to be very mindful of.
Every challenge has pushed me to grow, adapt, and trust myself more. None of it has been easy, but each obstacle has shaped how I run my business and how intentional I am about creating a space where people feel safe, welcome, and confident in their decision to come see me.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
With each and every client that walks through my door, my ultimate goal is simple: to help people feel good in their own skin. I offer non-invasive body sculpting treatments, but everything I do is fully customized. No two bodies are the same, so I take the time to create individualized treatment plans based on each person’s goals, needs, and challenges.
My approach often combines several methods, including lymphatic massage techniques and wood therapy to help stimulate the lymphatic system and prepare the body for detox, ultrasonic cavitation to target stubborn fat, radio frequency to help tighten and smooth the skin, and vacu-cupping to help reduce cellulite, scar tissue, and inflammation while improving circulation. While there’s a science-backed foundation to these treatments, I approach them holistically — focusing on the body as a whole rather than just one area.
What sets my business apart is the environment and intention behind it. I work out of a private suite, which allows for a more personal, one-on-one experience. Sessions are never rushed, and there’s no pressure to commit to anything that doesn’t feel right. I focus on education, honest conversations, and creating a space where people feel safe, comfortable, and supported.
One way I try to lead with care is by offering first sessions at half price. I want people to be able to experience a treatment for themselves in order to decide whether or not it feels right before moving forward. If it’s not for them, that’s completely okay. I believe trust is built through experience, not obligation.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud that my business reflects my values. I truly love what I do, and that joy is something I work hard to protect as I continue learning how to grow without burning out. I’ve been practicing body sculpting for nearly two years, and while the business itself has only become official within the past year, it’s been built thoughtfully and with care.
What I want readers to know most is that this isn’t about chasing perfection or fitting into a certain standard. It’s about offering accessible, thoughtful care and creating an experience where people feel empowered, relaxed, and confident — both during their session and long after they leave.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
What makes me happy is feeling deeply connected to the people I work with and the trust they place in me. I don’t take it lightly when someone walks through my door. Often, they’re exposing parts of themselves that have caused embarrassment or insecurity for years, and that level of vulnerability takes a lot of courage.
I understand that on a personal level. I’ve struggled with my own weight and body image for most of my life, so when I say “I get it,” I truly mean it. That shared understanding allows me to approach my work with empathy, patience, and care.
What brings me the most joy is walking alongside someone as they start to feel more confident and comfortable in their own body. I get just as excited as my clients when we begin seeing results, because I know how meaningful those changes can be — both physically and emotionally.
Acts of service are truly my love language, and being able to help someone in such a personal way is incredibly fulfilling for me. I feel genuinely honored when someone chooses me to be part of their journey, and knowing I can support them through something that once felt heavy or vulnerable is what makes this work so rewarding.
At the end of the day, happiness for me comes from doing work that feels honest, compassionate, and aligned with who I am. Being able to show up for others in this way — while building something of my own — is what makes me truly happy.
