Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaleb Godwin.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I am a young attorney who spent 2 years working for my mentor, Brad Kizzia, at his small boutique plaintiff’s firm right out of law school. After 2 years, I decided I wanted to be able to control my own future, and decided to take the leap into solo practice. I am from a tight-knit community northwest of Ft. Worth, and several of my classmates went on to start various companies in construction. I was able to use those relationships to provide a mutually beneficial service to those I grew up with, it was both fulfilling and educational. My reputation then began to grow, and I have been able to since procure enough business to grow my firm in just two years to handling over 150 cases at any given time, with the most “high-profile” case being K. Godwin Legal’s representation of the tenants who were impacted by the record-setting Cooper Fire in Fort Worth in 2025. Our office now has two attorneys on staff, tackling all varieties of civil matters all across the state. Our contractor clients stretch from Austin, to San Antonio, to Houston, and of course here in DFW. We have handled cases ranging from wrongful death claims against the biggest oilfield companies in the world, to small claims courts defending Clients’ property rights. Our second year in business, we helped settle over $3M in claims for our Clients.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Starting a business is never easy. Starting a business and finding out you’re going to be expecting your first child two weeks later added a whole new level of pressure and drive to succeed. Luckily, I’ve been through situations in life that prepared me to handle the adversity & challenges that come with navigating the road as a first-time father, while trying to grow a small business from scratch. It is because of the support of my family & those around me that I am able to proudly to look at where K. Godwin Legal is, where it started, and where it is headed.

Coming from rural Texas, our firm prides itself on stand-out client communication and relationships. We believe that integrity and honesty are cornerstones to build a true “small town” feel with our clients, while we aim to bring them “big law” results. Availability is the most important part of providing stand-out client communication. Our goal is to be available for any Client, anywhere, any time.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
With any luck and a little help along the way, our firm plans to open a second office to better service our central Texas Clients.
