Today we’d like to introduce you to Katrina Beasley
Hi Katrina, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’m Katrina Beasley and I believe my purpose is to help people develop beyond their potential. As the youngest of four from a family in Chicago. I’m a lover of everything with sparkle, glitter, rose gold and rainbows. I’m a proud alumnus of Whitney Young Magnet High School in Chicago (Go Dolphins!), Illinois State University (B.S. in English, Go Redbirds!) and Capella University (MBA in IT Management). I’ve worked for a Fortune 50 corporation for 20 years in and I’m a wife, a mother, a pageant queen and a businesswoman among other things. I’m a busy woman!
I’m the creator/host of 7 Figure Girls Podcast and the former Editor-in-Chief of the SITI GIRL DALLAS Magazine, owner of Typify7 Media Company and Executive Editor-in-Chief of SevenFG media site.
I consider myself to be an underestimated woman of many talents. I use my transferrable skills from my career to build upon my passion of helping others. I believe in building in silence and creating flexible plans to complete goals. I’m also a praying woman! My favorite bible is Proverbs 4:5 – 6 “Trust in the Lord with all you heart and lean not to your own understanding. Submit to him and all your ways and he’ll make your path straight.”… Amen!!!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No path is truly ever straight or bump free when you’re on a lifelong journey. Also, its about how you look at things, how you react to situations and if you truly know and feel you have options. There are always options. I call them challenges not struggles and challenges are something you conquer. The challenges of becoming an unmarried mother in college, to then moving my son and I to the great state of Texas (best decision ever), to health issues that come along with age and environment. Through all of it, I’ve learned to handle the challenges with an extreme amount of prayer, determination, and fortitude.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Typify7 Media Company is the home of the 7 Figure Girls Podcast and SevenFG, which is a media and publishing site. Actually, the thought process for coming up with 7 Figure Girls, came from me doing my first pageant. In 2016, I held the title of Ms. Plano Plus America 2017 in the Ms. Texas Plus America Pageant and in pageantry you need a platform and at the time I was mentoring young women around DFW. An associate and I were chatting about my platform and about potentially making 7 figure salaries. Like one day we’ll be 7 Figure Girls. Further in the conversation we started to talk about the 7 attributes that would make a well-rounded woman and it connected for me.
7 Figure Girls refers to empowerment of young women through the pillars of faith, finance, growth, goals, glow (up), glamour, and generosity. Our organization mentors young women to better understand the expectations that the world has for them and that they have on themselves, that it can be overwhelming. I just want to make their transition into the different levels of womanhood easier and for them to be better prepared for the road ahead. Yet the foundation of it all is to educate women to mature within the seven pillars of 7 Figure Girls and see them grow beyond their potential.
As Mrs. Texas All World Beauties 2024, I have the platform of Empowerment Through the Pillars, which incorporates my business pillars and the pageant system pillars. Pageantry has been such a growing experience that has given me such confidence and an appreciation for true sisterhood. It’s also part of the reason behind why I created the podcast which focuses on pageantry and finance and the media site of SevenFG to provide platforms for people to share their experiences and for others to learn from them. I speak at different events, mentor with many non-profits, sell merchandise, do consulting on development. In the future, the business will offer development courses, accountability groups, conferences, books, and other types of media platforms.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I’m so glad you asked this question. I have a proven method for finding mentors whether it be in business or life. A person once educated me of finding a mentor that is different from you, because if you have two many mentors that like you, you won’t grow beyond your potential. Different means, the opposite sex, religion, ethnicity, work environment, personality. A mentor should be someone that positively challenges you to move beyond your potential.
Then you need a minimum of three mentors. One that is successfully is conquering goals at your current level or the very next level you want to be at, so a peer mentor. Second, someone who is on top of their field but is in an opposite field from you. This way you’ll have access to truly transferrable skills and open your skillset to a new experience. Third, you’ll always need an ally that can speak highly of you when you’re not in the room. Find someone with the best reputation, best work ethic, and best networking that can help you network across multiple platforms, groups, and etc.
Also, be open to being informally mentored in the smallest way, which can simply mean asking a peer for feedback and others a question or two on a normal cadence to develop yourself. Understand that mentoring is ongoing and everlasting. Consider being a mentor for others, especially, if someone struggling in an area that you know you can assist them to develop beyond their potential.
