Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin DuBriel.
Hi Kevin, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Misfortune and adversity. Since the beginning of my life, nothing was easy. My biological father was shot to death before I was born, and my biological mother died six months after I was born. I went through several foster homes before being adopted. I struggle with education and got into serious trouble as a teenager. My behavior and attitude lead to prison. I went to prison at 18 for aggravated robbery and attempted murder. I was sentenced to 15 years. I didn’t learn how to fully read until I was 22. I did start college until I was 32 and I didn’t graduate until I was 37. Since being released from prison almost a decade ago. I have changed my life for good. I’m author and published. My author’s name is Maham the Mentor and my publishing company is Maham the Mentor Books. I have four published books. I also serve as a volunteer for many Dallas nonprofits in many different fields. From Miles of Freedom to OGU to the Texas Social Club of Dallas at 211 Ervay and Black Men Who Cares Inc. There’s no finish line to serving people. I’m a proud Servant-Leader, which is a slick way of saying. I live as an example for others. I believe if you knew better, you can do better. The more you know the less you can be manipulated by someone else, even me.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No one really pays attention to good people or good deeds. It’s normal to struggle or deal with adversity. I deal with struggles by remembering what I have already survived. If you knew what I have been through, then you would understand why I’m equipped for struggling. I believe God designed me to overcome any adversity that comes my way.
We’ve been impressed with Maham the Mentor Books LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Maham the Mentor Books is a book publishing company. We produce, create, and complete books for a variety of people. We specialize in helping those people who are incarcerated or formerly incarcerated get their books published. MTM Books goal is to sell books and help people incarcerated become Real published authors who will get paid for their work, even if they’re incarcerated. MTM Books will maintain great standards and character. Doing our best to continuing to ensure our customers and employees; that each one is valued and recognized. It’s Principles over Power, and we strongly believe in doing people right and being a person of your word, weather you are a man or woman.
Service Offering
Maham the Mentor Books will provide numerous Services and Products. Our Services will consist of Consultation, Book Publishing, Promotional & Marketing, and Stewardship Book Publishing Service. Our Products will be but are not limited to, Hardback books, Paperback books, eBooks, and Audiobooks. MTM books will be providing these services in the DFW area as well as throughout the state of Texas and the Nation.
Consultation
Maham the Mentor Books will offer Consultation Sessions. Our Consultation Sessions will provide our customers with valuable information about building their own publishing company and/or writing a book. Our Consultation Session service will last for 30 minutes and cost $20. Every additional 30 minutes will be $20. We are available to help you with your questions on this topic.
Promotional and Marketing
Our second service is Maham the Mentor book, is provided customers with valuable Promotional and Marketing services to help them get their products out there to their consumers in a positive way. MTM will be advertising in national publications, social media sites, word of Mouth, and the Prison System
Traditional Publishing
Our third service is Maham the Mentor books, like all traditional publishing companies. We will publish books for people looking for an opportunity to turn their work into reality. We are always looking for the next great Author who can paint work on our souls, is that you? You will have a place with MTM Books.
Stewardship publishing
Our fourth service is our Stewardship Publishing Services. Maham the Mentor books will be providing a special service for people who are incarcerated. Our Stewardship publishing services are for people who are locked up in Prison and have a positive book that they want to publish but don’t have a way to. Maham the Mentor books will assist these guys. Our research has revealed that there’s a tremendous amount of literature being lost because a lot of incarcerated people write books and lose them for numerous reasons, such as, shakedowns, transfers, fights, etc. Maham the Mentor is a man of character. He is fully aware of the type of integrity needed to be successful in this process of getting people projects together and out. But I am willing to help those out who are willing to help themselves. Maham the Mentor books doesn’t give handouts, we give hands up.
