Inspiring Conversations with Kiho Uhm of Bethel Mortgage TX, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kiho Uhm.

Hi Kiho, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
How I started:
When the pandemic began in 2020, I was laid off from Samsung Electronics due to internal restructuring. It was definitely a bittersweet moment. After spending 25 years in the corporate world, I decided it was time to take a different path — one that would allow me to work more independently and connect more directly with people. Toward the end of 2020, with a recommendation from an acquaintance, I began a new chapter as a loan officer.

How I got to where I am today:
Starting a new career during the pandemic came with a lot of challenges. Meeting clients in person wasn’t an option, so I turned to email marketing to build relationships and make my services known. I focused on providing highly personalized and detail-oriented service, which helped me stand out. That strategy worked — and in April 2025, I took the next step to become an independent mortgage broker. Since then, I’ve been running my own business, serving the North Texas Korean and other communities with pride and consistency.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it definitely hasn’t always been smooth. One of my biggest challenges was building partnerships with realtors. I’ve always been a bit introverted, so doing the kind of aggressive sales outreach that others in the field excel at wasn’t my strength. Instead of forcing myself into that mold, I decided to focus on what I could control — offering the best possible service to every client who came my way. Over time, that approach paid off. Satisfied clients began recommending me to their friends and family, and that word-of-mouth reputation became the foundation of my business growth.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Bethel Mortgage TX, LLC?
My company is Bethel Mortgage TX, LLC, and I serve as both a residential mortgage broker and loan originator. What sets me apart is my background — 25 years of experience at one of the world’s top companies taught me to value precision, professionalism, and clear communication. I make sure my clients understand every detail of their loan process and feel confident every step of the way.

Even when clients decide to go with their builder’s preferred lender, I still provide guidance and support. I believe that kind of sincerity leaves a lasting impression — and even if they don’t work with me today, they often come back or refer others in the future.

We offer a wide range of residential loan products, including conventional loans, government loans (FHA, VA), down payment assistance programs, and portfolio loans for self-employed borrowers or business owners. And because I know that buying a home doesn’t always happen during business hours, I make myself available day and night, weekdays and weekends, to help clients whenever they need it.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
For me, the key is trust. Building trust with clients and professional partners — like realtors — is everything in this business. When people trust you, they don’t just come back; they become advocates who tell others about you. My success has really come from that cycle of trust, satisfaction, and long-term relationships.
