Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristin Parks
Hi Kristin, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Raised in a small rural town in Montana, I have always cherished my country upbringing and love for the outdoors. During the summers, I worked as a wildland firefighter, rode my horse named Huckleberry, and occasionally encountered a sleepy bear in the woods. My business orientation led me to pursue a degree in Management Information Systems, after which I was recruited by KPMG in San Francisco for IT consulting. After a decade in this corporate role and relocating to Texas, I still yearned for my country roots.
My close friends and I enjoy dressing up in themed outfits and frequenting the Fort Worth Stockyards. Instead of a “hot girl summer,” we embraced a “Cowgirl Summer.” Our love for custom items inspired me to create products under this name, including cowgirl camo hoodies, denim corset tops, and crop tops.
Thus, the Cowgirl Summer brand was born. I love sharing it with my local Texas community, promoting an environment that encourages friends to come together, enjoy the outdoors, and stay active. Our brand offers a unique, clean, and simplistic take on traditional country attire, featuring crisp whites and rich blues. We aim to make everyone feel included and invite them to join us for a Cowgirl Summer!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of the biggest challenges in entering a saturated market is building brand awareness. Establishing a social media following from scratch and running promotional ads involves significant upfront costs and requires professional expertise, which I initially thought I could handle on my own. After three years, we are still growing, but we have successfully identified our target audience and refined our promotional strategies.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Cowgirl Summer is a lifestyle brand offering women’s country attire with a modern, clean twist on traditional rugged western wear. Our collection features crisp whites and rich blues, accented with girly bows, providing a unique custom touch to the typical brown camos and dark denims. Among our most popular products are the bow sleeve camo hoodie, denim lace bikini, and denim corset top.
Beyond clothing, our brand fosters an online community filled with interactive, outdoorsy, and aesthetic ideas. It promotes friendship, activity, and inclusion, inviting everyone to experience a Cowgirl Summer with us.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love how Fort Worth preserves its history through the Stockyards, one of the last authentic western places in America. The blend of country and city vibes is very relatable and cherished by many today, and our city embodies this unique mix. The diverse options, from enjoying a fancy meal to going four-wheeling at a ranch, are rare to find elsewhere. The Dallas-Fort Worth area has a strong sense of community and southern hospitality, where people genuinely care for each other, ensuring no one feels alone.
