Hi laTasha, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
After living in London, England as a stay-at-home mom, I returned to the U.S. to complete my MBA in Accounting and Finance and went on to build a corporate career spanning more than 16 years. I rose from Accounting Associate to Accounting Supervisor at UPS, and later served as Senior Accountant and Financial Analyst at Orthofix, specializing in General Ledger, Consolidations, and Financial Planning and Analysis.
In 2022, I launched LC Taxes and More, LLC as a way to bring my expertise directly to clients. By October 2024, I transitioned to running my business full time, offering flexible Accounting, Bookkeeping, Tax, and Notary services—whether remotely, at a client’s preferred location, or in person at Serendipity Labs coworking space. My focus is on helping small businesses, professionals, and families gain clarity and confidence in their finances while saving time and money. Looking ahead, I aim to grow LC Taxes and More into a full-service financial hub, building a team of professionals, mentoring future accountants, and investing back into the community through scholarships and educational programs.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
As an introvert, the biggest challenge has been pushing myself out of my comfort zone. Networking doesn’t come naturally to me, but I’ve learned that meeting people face-to-face is key to building trust and growing my business. Another struggle was shifting from the security of corporate America to running my own business full time. Suddenly, I had to take on every role—marketing, sales, client service, and operations—not just accounting and finance.
But these challenges have stretched me in the best way. I’ve become more confident, resourceful, and willing to ask for help. Each obstacle has been an opportunity to grow personally and professionally, and it’s made me more determined to build a business that not only supports my clients but also creates opportunities for others in the future. Becoming an entrepreneur has also allowed me more freedom to spend time with my family.

As a woman of faith, I give all credit to God for the opportunity to run my business and for sustaining me through personal disappointments. What some might call “bad luck” — like being laid off — I see as redirection. Those moments forced me to step back, rebuild, and ultimately step into entrepreneurship full time. Along the way, I’ve also experienced what I’d call good fortune: meeting clients and mentors at just the right time, doors opening when I needed them most. I believe faith and preparation create the space for those “lucky” breaks to matter, and I try to stay ready to walk through them.
