Inspiring Conversations with Laura Garrett of NutrActive

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Laura Garrett.

Laura Garrett

Hi Laura, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I developed an interest in health from a young age, which stemmed from my Christian belief that my body is a tool for God. As such, I strive to lead a sensible, healthy lifestyle that is not obsessive but rather balanced in all aspects.

This early mindset towards good health led me to pursue a career as a registered dietitian and fitness trainer. Combining these two specialties enables me to assist clients in improving their physical fitness and dietary intake.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
After completing my education, I became a parent and later a stay-at-home mom in order to homeschool my three children. To make a living, I started consulting clients online. However, it was not easy to establish a robust online presence, and I faced several challenges in this regard.

Now that my children are grown up, I have more free time to offer in-person training sessions, teach classes, and continue my consulting work.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
The brand concept of NutrActive is a combination of nutrition and active living. As a result, nutrition consultations and fitness training will focus on both aspects. The difference between the two services is based on client preference. Some clients prefer to develop a plan and execute it on their own, while others need a trainer to guide them through the active side of the plan.

We have introduced a new service that involves putting a client’s training plan into an app. Each exercise comes with instructions, video examples, and customization based on individual needs.

What sets NutrActive apart is that we work hard to listen to client’ concerns and develop plans that fit their busy lifestyles. We do not impose our way of thinking on clients; instead, we help them adopt healthy habits to their way of living.

Clients appreciate our lifestyle guidance because we apply our specialty in corrective exercise training to help them overcome physical limitations. We also focus on functionality improvement through careful evaluation.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My biggest supporter is my husband, who offers no limitations. Most recently, my pastor and his wife helped me overcome self-inhibitions.
