Today, we’d like to introduce you to Leo Rain.
Hi Leo, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
Well, I saw people fulfilling their purpose but not finding their God-given passions. I believe God created the plans for our life to be enjoyed, and few take the time and effort to tap in with the Lord to find out those plans. So that put me on a journey to find out where His plans for my life are, aka the place where passion meets purpose.
One day, I talked to a doctor who had been in his practice for over 50 years. I had a conversation with him about how he knew being a physician was him living in his passion and purpose. He said, “Your purpose and passion are in your childhood. Think about what you loved to do when you were a child. When you’re a kid, you’re the most untainted by society and family pressures. You’re the purest version of yourself. On top of that, God uses who we are for His plans.
He said he always wanted chemistry sets and science toys as a kid. Now, he’s one of the longest-standing physicians in Little Rock, AR, and has been practicing medicine for over 50 years. That was my answer. That conversation gave me a perspective on life I never considered. I sat and just thought about who I was as a kid and what I was always doing. When I thought about it, I was always a naturally talented singer/writer, and I loved music.
So much so that I was flown out to Orlando, FL, for a national poetry competition, so much so that if I had the option to do a song or rap for a class project, I would do it and get the easy A, I spend hours every night replicating covers on YouTube for fun. I didn’t realize I did it that much until I really looked back at the kid I was growing up.
Today, it’s been 4 years since that conversation, and I haven’t looked back. When I work on music, it feels purposeful. It feels natural to sing, write, and create. Even more, I feel like God gives me affirmation through some of the music opportunities I’ve had in Dallas. The more I work on my talent as an artist, the more it feels right.
Ultimately, I want to be an artist that inspires others. I want to be an artist that creates a different perspective on life and love. I believe there’s something great inside of me that God wants to use to bring the best out of the world.
Alright, let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
So far, it has been filled with highs and lows. Starting with the good news first, I will be debuting my first project with multitalented producers BobbyLand and MaxwellB in late summer/fall of 2024. I am stoked for this release because it has been a process of 3 years in the making of this music.
Not to mention, it will turn a lot of heads. Vice versa, one of the bigger challenges has been growing the business through music. In today’s culture, the music industry is oversaturated and filled with a lot of talented individuals. Therefore, being a recording artist by itself is no longer an adequate means of prospering financially.
Having to work a day job while developing as an artist and entrepreneur has been a grind, but totally worth it! I am beyond grateful for the journey because it is what makes me! It fuels the passion and authenticity of the music. It sculpts the hunger and expertise in the business. The marathon is perfectly purposeful!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next, you can tell us a bit more about your business.
