Inspiring Conversations with Lindsey McMullen of Tater Tot Boutique

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsey McMullen.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is Lindsey Mcmullen, I am the owner of Tater Tot Boutique. I grew up in Lake highlands and love kid clothes! We opened our doors on August 1, 2025. I have always had a love of fashion and since having two kids of my own, I wanted to see them dressed their best, without breaking the bank. I have always felt an affinity to children’s clothes (I was named after a children’s clothing store in Snider Plaza). I have spent the last 11 years as an attorney working in the corporate world (I still do). When my family moved to Grapevine in 2018, I was on the hunt for local boutiques but just couldn’t find one that fit my need. I was so sick of driving to Dallas, so I decided that I would open my own. Here we are 6 months in and I am so excited for what the future holds. I have met so many amazing families and kids and love watching their families grow!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I began my journey in January 2025 and wanted to dip my toes in the waters of the kid retail world but was turned down left and right at the Dallas Market because I didn’t have a brick and mortar location. This wouldn’t be an issue for adult clothing. My vision has always been to have a brick and mortar store and to have part of that business plan be upscale consignment. The vendors didn’t like this idea. I kept persisting and went on the hunt for the perfect location. I viewed many options but all were still too expensive. I can only sell so many kids clothes. But I found a location in Keller Town Center that was perfect! It was previously a martial arts studio. I signed a lease in March 2025 and began work.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We sell new clothing and accessories, as well as, upscale consignment. We bring in more unique brands that bring that traditional look for kids. We want them to feel confident while also still looking like their age. I love our consignment section as a shopper. It is exploding and it just shows that this need was there. I am so excited to grow this part of the business!

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I love the book Unreasonable Hospitality by Will Guidara. This is what I want to build my business on. The idea that a business can care and go above and beyond to make sure that someone feels more than just a transaction but a friend.
