My name is Lizzi Cifuentes, and I am the founder and owner of Quality Plus Painting, a company built on strategic vision, disciplined execution, and resilience. My professional journey in the construction and painting industry began more than a decade ago, in an environment that demanded excellence, adaptability, and strong leadership. From the beginning, I understood that success would require more than technical skills, it would require perseverance, integrity, and a long-term mindset.
Quality Plus Painting was established with limited initial resources but with a clear objective: to deliver consistent, high-quality services while building a company grounded in trust, accountability, and operational excellence. Throughout the years, I encountered significant challenges, including economic uncertainty, operational growth demands, and the responsibility of leading teams in a competitive industry. Each challenge became an opportunity to strengthen our processes, elevate our standards, and refine our leadership approach.
Today, Quality Plus Painting operates in Fort Worth, Texas, and Florida, supported by a team of more than 30 professionals. Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The path has not been easy, and it has never been linear. Building and leading a company in the construction and professional services industry requires resilience, adaptability, and a strong capacity to navigate uncertainty. From the early stages, I faced challenges related to limited resources, operational scalability, and establishing credibility in a highly competitive and traditionally male-dominated field.
As the company grew, new complexities emerged – managing cash flow, maintaining consistent quality standards, recruiting and retaining skilled talent, and responding to market fluctuations. Each phase of growth required strategic decision-making, disciplined execution, and the ability to lead teams through change while maintaining focus on long-term objectives.
One of the most significant challenges has been balancing rapid expansion with operational excellence. Growth can be an opportunity, but without structure, systems, and accountability, it can also become a risk. I learned early on that sustainable success depends on building strong internal processes, investing in people, and remaining adaptable without compromising values or service quality.
These challenges shaped my leadership style and strengthened my commitment to continuous improvement. Rather than viewing obstacles as setbacks, I approach them as opportunities to refine strategy, strengthen resilience, and lead with clarity and purpose. Each challenge overcome has contributed to the solid foundation and reputation that Quality Plus Painting holds today.
