Inspiring Conversations with Marisol Lopez of Sol Lash and Beauty

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marisol Lopez.

Hi Marisol, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started the lash journey back in 2015 working in Allen-McKinney at a few salons. After I had my second child, I decided I wanted more flexibility and spend more time with my family. I quit working for a few months but started doing house calls and working from home. After a year or so I decided to take the leap of faith and opened my own lash studio in August of 2017 in Sherman, TX with almost zero clientele. It was a bit challenging, but thanks to social media and running specials through Facebook garage sale sites and Marketplace, I kept myself busy. Through the past years of working independent, I’ve had 2 more children. When you are in the beauty industry, there are many challenges you have to face, and maternity leave is one of them. You lose clientele and your lash clients need their fills at least every 2-3 weeks. What is most important to me is being able to have flexibility to work around your clients, and some don’t understand. Thankfully, I have a team of wonderful clients who understand my situation. In the past year of 2021, I’ve decided to share my knowledge and encouragement to women who want that freedom. I want other women who want to be lash artist or just to be a better person themselves. I started promoting lash training and also opened my online lash store. I feel blessed to where I am now, however, there is much more to come, especially now with my 5th baby arriving in July! My goal is to encourage other women and small business owners that anything is possible, no matter how challenging life is!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When you are a beginner lash tech or just starting out your small business there are many trials and errors. Getting your name out there is a challenge. The algorithm changes constantly on social media, and targeting your ideal client can be hard too. When I first started out, my first-time clients gave me anxiety. I was nervous they were not going to be satisfied with their lashes. After practicing and taking a few advanced lash courses, I was confident with myself and my work. I am thankful now that I am headed towards the right path and also want to guide others who are facing challenges currently.

We’ve been impressed with Sol Lash and Beauty Co., but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a lash artist and business owner who is passionate in creating art, and empowers women, physically, emotional, and mentally. I specialize in volume and mega volume lashes. I am known for my signature mega volume lashes. My clients recognize me as “superwoman”, because I always keep myself busy, by multitasking between my business and family. I am thankful after a few years of dreaming of having my own online lash supply store, I’ve finally accomplished it a few months ago. I’ve also started out offering lash education for other artists who are struggling or want to improve their business.

How do you define success?
Success is an automated accomplishment and abundance of joy, after an obstacle that was hard to face. Personally, success takes more than your own self. It takes a group of people who are willing to support you, for example, clients, friends and family. Before you reach success, you must first have to fail, and that is multiple times!
