Inspiring Conversations with Michelle Cribbin of True Fix Physical Therapy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Cribbin.

Michelle, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am originally from Nebraska, went to college at Kansas State for Athletic Training, and then continued on to get my Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Kansas Medical Center. I love athletic training but have always been drawn to the rehab side of things and fascinated with keeping people moving better for longer. After having knee surgery myself and going through physical therapy, I was hooked. Yes, it was difficult and yes it took awhile, but there is no price tag or timeline on being able to move without pain. I have spent this first few years of my career becoming an expert in ACL rehab and injury prevention and striving to decrease sports and active adult related injuries. After 4 years as a clinician, I had the opportunity to open my own practice – now known as True Fix Physical Therapy – Mansfield.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I have been a life long athlete and have always loved physical activity, from running to basketball to soccer and everything in between, but that also came with some challenges. I went ‘too’ far into the exercise and struggled with an eating disorder for many years. When I was finally getting that under control, I underwent bilateral knee surgery due to having bone in my patellar tendons, which as you can imagine, limited my physical activity. After years of successes and setbacks, I got into a position where I could help others. After 4 years working in hospital and private outpatient physical therapy clinics, I got the opportunity to open my own clinic. The only thing I wish I would have done different is open it sooner. My passion has always been to promote movement and increase people’s tolerance to things they enjoy! I work to keep you on the field, on the court, at the gym, or on the trails. My personal experience allows me to understand my patients on a deeper level, and for that I am thankful.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At True Fix, I am here to help you move freely for life. My passion is to help people stay active, healthy, and resilient for the long run. I specialize in ACL rehab and lower extremity injury prevention and sport performance. I have personal and professional experience with soccer and running related injuries as well as football, MMA, tennis, and group fitness. Each of my sessions is programmed specifically for that patient, and always has their goals in mind. If you ask my patients how it is to work with me, I’d guess they would say that I write a mean leg day workout, I will get you to your goals, and I truly care about your success. At True Fix, I offer a full range of evidence-based treatments – from hands-on therapy to targeted exercise programs.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
It really comes down to just getting out there. I am lucky to have the True Fix family in my corner, but I have also learned a lot from finding people with similar values and just talking to them. All small business owners are similar minded, but everyone has a different story.
