Today we’d like to introduce you to Nancy Reza.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
We opened our first store on Cesar Chavez Blvd in July 2020 at the top of the COVID-19 pandemic. My family has worked in the industry for over 11 years. With Taqueria El Arquito, we started from scratch with only faith in God, trust in each other, and high hopes for this new venture. We have gotten to where we are today (8 stores) by using our experience, keeping our consistency, loving what we do, and aiming to get better every day.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has definitely not being a smooth road. As a family and a company we have learned that our reputation has the most power during the most difficult times. Some companies turned their back on us while others contacted us to open locations because of the relationship we built with them throughout the years. We also have dealt with labor shortage like every other company during these difficult times, which as a result has stopped us from opening more locations. However, we have gotten to meet some of the most valuable people since we first open in 2020. Taqueria El Arquito is a product of God’s plan for us, and result of diligent work and dedication.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Taqueria El Arquito is a family-owned business, founded in July 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic crisis. El Arquito is a casual taco restaurant inspired by Mexico’s architecture and culinary heritage. We are known for serving Tacos de Trompo, made with our unique family recipe introduced by our co-founders and chefs Jose Angel Avila, Juan Diego Gutierrez, and Victor Hugo Reza. We also specialize in preparing authentic Mexican food. What sets us apart from other taquerias is our concept, (we are mostly inside gas stations) the fact that we cater to different groups of people, and how we use social media and word of mouth to reach different audiences. We are most proud about how our customers love our food, how we have been able to please people’s palate, and how we have been able to provide our associates with a great working atmosphere.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson we have learned along this two-year journey, and something our parents have always taught us is that God always has a plan for us, to keep our faith, and never give up.
