Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalie Diaz.
Hi Natalie, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
Slayla stemmed from a failed suicide attempt, followed by a powerful vision I had to start a fashion company in honor of my daughter “LAYLA,” whom passed away in 2018. Losing a child is a very traumatic event however the trauma is also the never-ending fire igniting my ambition, motivation, & dedication to have my daughter’s legacy live on through fashion. My story itself has grasped a lot of attention, gaining a lot of our support from our nationwide customers to celebrities such as former WWE wrestler Sasha Banks and many many more. Slayla is more than just a fashion company; there is meaning behind our brand. Every piece designed and worn it is serving its purpose by keeping her name alive.
I consistently work 15 hours a day, every day strategizing every detail of my business. I take many risks openly with the positive mindset of what amazing things could result if I am successful vs. what negative impacts it could have on my business. Ultimately, I am where I am today because of my daughter Layla.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The moment you start your business journey, you will realize it is a challenging road with many obstacles. Building a company from the ground up with your personal cash flow is the most challenging thing a person can attempt. The most crucial advice I can give anyone is to remain consistent. Consistency can be frustrating, and inconsistency can make or break your business. Finding your balance in the beginning phase of your new business journey is also a challenge. As time progresses, you get to know your business as it gains traction and you’re able to slowly adapt and find your balance.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Slayla specializes in fast fashion + custom apparel. Slayla also offers exclusive styling – wardrobe services to 3rd party companies/persons such as photography companies, modeling agencies, and T.V. networks. We also offer private styling services to celebrities or high-profile clients for special occasions.
Slayla surpassed its 2nd year in business as of January 31st, and we are honored to see our company grow little by little as we gain more and more clientele & opportunities.
As I reflect on my journey, I am proud of all of Slayla’s accomplishments and the progress we’ve made in 2 years. Some exciting projects we are currently working on is working with recording artist “Nivea” on styling her in our designs for a new reality T.V. series she will be featured in. We are also working with some of the women from Netflix series “SELLING TAMPA” in a new spin-off T.V. Show in Miami, FL. with our stylist “Ratino Sherrod” IG: @Ratinotinille styling the cast members in our 2023 collection.
We are most proud of having had the opportunity to style WWE Wrestler Sasha Banks for Wrestlemania right here in Dallas, Tx. We also are most proud of to have worked with our local Dallas Maverick DJ (Poizon Ivy) AKA Ivy styling her for Mavericks games and special occasions such as famous rapper BURNA BOY’S birthday dinner + charity event with famous basketball player Shaquille O’Neal.
We are honored to have worked with so many amazing people, and we will continue to strive to build our clientele and relationships worldwide.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
In the next 5-10 years, Slayla will be a known nationwide company. Based on Slayla’s progress and proven track record, we are on pace to launching 3 physical store locations in Dallas, TX, Florida, and California by 2029. Slayla will be featured in many upcoming T.V. Projects and movies as we are already building our resume and reputation in the film industry. We cannot wait to see what future stars or celebrities will be wearing our design next in the upcoming years!
