Inspiring Conversations with Nishant of Solace Global

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nishant.

Hi Nishant, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Our story began the summer after 10th grade. I was interning at an e-learning company, first in their SAT department and later with their marketing team. One of my tasks was to identify areas to target their SAT prep materials. I assumed the focus would be on underprivileged areas, students who didn’t have access to high-quality prep resources. But I soon realized that most companies mainly targeted wealthier neighborhoods, where families could afford to buy the materials.

That realization struck me. I understood the business logic, but it bothered me that students who needed the most help were often left out. Drawing from my background in robotics and other STEM activities, I decided to take action. I started hosting small local workshops with friends to teach kids in the community. Over time, those efforts grew, and we eventually expanded into international outreach, creating what is now our organization’s humanitarian aid and STEM education divisions.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been anything but a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges was getting people to take the idea seriously, as many assumed it was just another small nonprofit without real impact. Another major struggle was raising funds for our projects and for the humanitarian aid and robotics kits we send internationally. Despite these challenges, we were fortunate to receive support from local partners who believed in our mission, along with companies such as Amazon Business and Google for Nonprofits, which provided in-kind contributions. Altogether, these efforts helped us secure nearly $70,000 in resources, allowing us to grow and expand our impact. We still face difficulties, such as finding orphanages to partner with in rural areas, but as our network continues to grow, these connections are making it easier to reach more communities and strengthen our programs.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Solace Global ?
Solace Global is a youth-led nonprofit based in Dallas, Texas, and we are dedicated to making STEM education and humanitarian support accessible to underserved communities around the world. What began as a small idea created by students has grown into an international effort that now supports learners and families in the United States, India, Pakistan, Kenya, Somalia, and other regions. Our mission is simple: we want to empower individuals of all ages with opportunities to explore robotics, technology, and digital literacy while also providing humanitarian aid that meets basic needs in the communities we serve.

We specialize in interactive STEM education that focuses on real engagement rather than passive learning. Our workshops include robotics demonstrations, coding lessons, engineering activities, and digital literacy instruction. We believe students learn best by doing, so we create hands-on environments that encourage building, experimenting, and problem solving. This approach builds confidence, curiosity, and long-term interest in STEM fields.

A major part of our impact is the creation and distribution of STEM outreach kits. We design and ship these kits internationally to schools and organizations that lack access to educational materials. Alongside these kits, we also send humanitarian support items such as food and clothing to more than 20 countries, resources that help students and families meet their day-to-day needs. Our work is not limited to education; we want every community we reach to feel supported, cared for, and seen.

Locally, we engage with senior homes through adult-friendly robotics sessions, digital literacy classes, scam prevention presentations, and creative activities that include painting 3D printed toys. These intergenerational programs allow us to bring technology, comfort, and conversation to older adults who may feel disconnected.

What sets Solace Global apart is that our organization is fully run by high school students, and is the largest of its kind. We handle planning, outreach, international shipping, fundraising, event leadership, and partnership development. This youth-led model gives us a sense of authenticity and shows what young people can accomplish when trusted with responsibility. We also host community events such as sports tournaments that help us raise money for our initiatives.

We are proud to work with partners such as Undefined Robotics, Google for Nonprofits, Amazon Business, and local organizations as well. These partnerships strengthen our ability to provide both STEM education and humanitarian support. With fiscal sponsorship from HCB, we maintain professional structure while staying focused on direct impact.

What we want readers to know is that our work goes beyond robotics and coding. We are committed to removing barriers, uplifting communities, and providing both knowledge and care. Our brand represents compassion, innovation, support, and youth leadership. Every workshop, kit, and outreach effort is designed to help people discover their potential and feel supported along the way.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
Plano and the greater Dallas area have an incredible mix of diversity, opportunity, and community support. One of the things I appreciate most is how much the people here value education, technology, and innovation. Plano in particular has strong schools, active youth programs, and a culture that encourages students to get involved, try new things, and lead. It is one of the reasons organizations like Solace Global can grow. There is always someone willing to help, someone willing to listen, and someone willing to partner.

I also love how multicultural Dallas is. You can meet people from every background, discover new cultures, celebrate different traditions, and find global communities all within one region. This diversity creates a sense of openness and possibility. For a youth-led nonprofit that works with international communities, it feels natural to be based in a city that reflects the world.

Another thing I enjoy is the balance between city energy and suburban comfort. Plano has safe neighborhoods, great parks, and quiet spaces, while Dallas has the busy atmosphere, events, and opportunities that push you to think bigger.

While I love living here, there are a few things that could be improved. One challenge in both Plano and Dallas is the level of inequality that exists behind the scenes. Even though many areas are thriving, there are still families and communities that lack access to resources, educational support, and technology. This is part of what motivates our work at Solace Global. We want to help bridge those gaps, both locally and internationally.

Another thing I like least is the dependence on cars. Transportation across Dallas and Plano can be difficult, especially for students or families who do not drive. Public transit is limited, and long distances make it harder for people to access programs, jobs, and opportunities. Better connectivity would help a lot of people.
