Inspiring Conversations with PARKER CHERRY of [Design-Service]

Today we’d like to introduce you to PARKER CHERRY.

Hi PARKER, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’m from Odessa, Texas.

A small city in the Permian Basin all about football, family and the oilfield .. there’s not much else to do besides those three things. The high-school-football-player to oil-field-rough-neck pipeline is strong but I always knew I wanted more.

My parents have been divorced my whole life (pretty much), but luckily they found loyal partners to help raise me until I got older .. (then they all got divorced). But they made their marks on me and I credit their 4 unique personalities with shaping me into a balanced individual. They gave me an elite “data set” of values, beliefs, interests and lifestyles to pull from. They also gave me room to take my favorite things from their identities and implement them into my own (just like Bruce Lee and his Jeet Kune Do).

High school is when my brand-identity began to flourish. I had stability at home because I didn’t have to pay bills (besides my car), make my own food (daily) or do much else outside of chores. So I had bandwidth to play football, do graphic design, design clothes, have a girlfriend, work a job and excel in AP/GT classes. I was doing my thing (fr!).

I went to community college after graduating but realized I should’ve taken dual credit instead of AP/GT .. those classes challenged me but ultimately wasted resources .. I was relearning stuff I’d already done and this time paying tuition. But let’s be honest, I always knew I’d drop out if I couldn’t play football at the highest level and I was already finding success in business. So that’s what I did.

I dropped out and moved to Dallas 5 years ago. I figured I could beat “big university” by working as many jobs as possible, reading as many books as possible and meeting as many people as possible. So far, I was right. I have endless stories, connections and lessons from 25+ jobs, 40+ books and 170+ contacts. I’m 24 years old. I’ve built bridges, burnt bridges, got dumped, been fired, been hired, put people on, cut people off, slept on couches, provided my couches, slept in my car, helped people start businesses and now I’m building multiple with full force .. so Odessa is where I’m from .. but Dallas is where I really grew up.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Navigating the early 20s; learning about myself, who I am, what I do and don’t do.

Being away from family; I miss them dearly and have even went by my last name exclusively in workplaces to remind myself of why i’m out here and who I do it for.

Skipping Big University; dropping out of community college and learning about business through books, jobs and my own businesses.

Making mistakes; getting dumped, getting fired, saying the wrong things, etc.

We’ve been impressed with [Design-Service], but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We design logos, websites and advertisements for growing businesses so they can build leverage through a strong brand.

We have a smooth 5 stage process that is dense but efficient and has yielded us very high success rates.

I started a clothing brand in Odessa, Texas when I was 17. I had no idea what I was doing, it was my first business but it was still pretty successful. It got featured on BET, raised thousands of dollars for multiple charities, had multiple successful collections and taught me a lot through hands-on-experience.

I moved to Dallas to take it to the next level but it hit the back burner quickly. I used the front burners to study branding, marketing & psychology through books (40+ audiobooks) and work (20+ jobs in 5 years). Ref. Linkedin.com/Puali00

Now I help business owners with what i’ve learned so that they don’t make the same mistakes I made.

The most difficult thing in life is to know yourself.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I plan to launch a new clothing brand soon.
I recently started a private community.
I enjoy jiu-jitsu, american-football, chess, movies and calisthenics.

SUCCESS IS ABOUT ALIGNMENT .. not speed.
