Today we’d like to introduce you to Peyton Goldberg Hamilton.
Hi Peyton, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
My name is Peyton Goldberg Hamilton, I am a Fort Worth native. I am a cat mom, soon-to-be human mom and the owner and healing artist behind, Oversoul.
Ever since I was a child, I have been interested in the more magical aspects of life. I was constantly pondering about the big unanswerable questions having to do with creation, the collective, and the meaning of life in general. These innate curiosities guided me down a more esoteric path of interests that I ultimately believe helped to open my mind and propel me to where I am today.
I became passionate about the healing arts after a series of profound healing experience in my early 20s. Since I was young, I suffered from chronic pneumonia and related lung issues and then in my late teens/early 20s I also struggled with extreme mental and emotional health issues, as well as some heavy self-medicating/substance abuse. I was severely depressed, anxious, and lacked the desire to live – for years nothing seemed to help.
I was constantly misdiagnosed, mistreated, and over-medicated by numerous doctors, all of which seemed to only make matters worse. Modern medicine wasn’t doing the trick, so my mom desperately began researching alternative healing methods. It wasn’t until 2013, when my mom introduced me to some books on Reiki, energy healing, and vibrational medicine, that things started to finally change for the better. Something clicked. Through alternative holistic approaches which ultimately fostered a major shift of mindset, I was able to eradicate the chronic pneumonia/lung issues and heal my depression/anxiety (which for many years felt absolutely un-healable.) I experienced a spiritual awakening soon after my self-described healing miracle. Since that awakening, I have completely immersed myself in studying, practicing, and teaching the healing arts.
After my first experience in self-healing, I quickly adopted the belief that “if I can do it, anyone can,” from then on it became my mission to help others access holistic wellness in their own lives. I have allowed my curiosity and intuition to guide me in this lifetime to be of service to others for the highest good of all people.
My journey has led me to study a variety of areas pertaining to the healing arts including aromatherapy, yoga, Reiki, Meridian Yoga, and bodywork therapies based on Traditional Chinese Medicine and massage.
My offerings over the years have evolved and changed, but my end goal has always been the same: to help others realize the innate power within each of us to heal the mind, body, and spirit and provide services that will assist those on their healing journey.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not always been a smooth road, but God/the universe has continued to provide. I feel my hardest struggles in life happened well before I began this business adventure with Oversoul, but as any self-employed service provider knows – business ebbs and flows, every day and week is different. Business isn’t always consistent. Burnout is real. However, the struggles I endured in my past have helped prepare me build resiliency to handle whatever surfaces in my present.
Some of my most difficult struggles as a business owner have been simply getting out of my own way (mentally) and overcoming imposter syndrome – especially when it came to teaching and leading Reiki trainings. It’s easy to not feel good enough, especially doing this kind of work. Learning to trust myself and trust that I have the ability to make a genuine difference in the lives others by sharing this information has been challenging for me at times. But, feeling like I am doing what I am truly meant to do in this lifetime has made it easier for me to just go with it, despite whatever kinds of doubts creep up in my mind.
We’ve been impressed with Oversoul, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a Reiki Master/Master Teacher, Usui Holy Fire III, trained through International Center of Reiki Training, a Professional Member of The International Center of Reiki Training (ICRT) Reiki Association, a Licensed Massage Therapist (MT134419), 500+ RYT, Meridian Yoga Therapy Practitioner and AMTA Member.
I offer one-on-one services for mind, body, and spirit out of my office in Fort Worth. Services include: Reiki/Intuitive energy work, massage, meridian-based bodywork therapies, cupping, auriculotherapy, and private yoga. I have an energy-based approach to all the services I offer and focus on all facets of being a healthy human – not just addressing the physical body but the subtle energy that creates and surrounds it.
In addition to my one-on-one services, I also lead Reiki trainings and provide certification in this modality. I teach others to be Reiki practitioners and how to use this energy for themselves, others, and the world around them. I love working individually with others in-office, but teaching Reiki is my true passion. The world needs more healers – and I love that I get to help bring more of them into the world. Being a mentor to my students who wish to start careers in the healing arts has also been extremely rewarding. Truly, nothing makes me happier than to be of support on their paths.
Aside from all things Oversoul, you can catch me teaching group yoga classes and workshops at The Studio in Fort Worth.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I know in my heart that this industry will be expanding more rapidly in the years to come and become even more accessible to communities all over the world. Currently, the work I do is fairly niche, but people are becoming more open-minded to alternative methods of healing. This collective curiosity is a wonderful thing and I truly believe that this type of work will continue to help so many people on their respective healing paths – especially as this work becomes more mainstream and less “woo-woo”. We are beginning to see scientific research that supports this type of energy work and the profound healing that it can provide. I think as the years progress, we will be seeing more of this type of research as well.
In addition to what I feel intuitively, I also believe so many people have become disenfranchised by Big Pharma and western medicine in general. Don’t get me wrong, I am extremely thankful we have medicines, surgeries, etc. for when they are truly needed. However, I feel like most western approaches place a bandaid over the symptoms instead of addressing the root cause of the disease/ailment – which is always energetic. Everything that manifests in the physical begins as energy, whether it be mental or emotional. Energy work is the way of the future. I hope I get to see it flourish in my lifetime!
