Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachael Watson.
Hi Rachael, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
If we’re being perfectly honest, it all started with a crappy cup of coffee.
I’d woken up early for a business meeting, and dashed out the door with just enough time to stop for a cup of coffee.
I pulled into the drive-thru line, waited ages, paid for my drink and hit the road. When I finally took the first sip, it was scalding, too sweet, and the milk was completely burned. The coffee I’d just paid $6 for was undrinkable.
I made it through my meeting, disappointed and under-caffeinated. But when I walked through the door at the end of that day—I was still fuming about that bad cup of coffee.
It turns out that nothing can ruin a morning quite like a bad cup of coffee.
I began venting about how tired I was of that chain coffee shop, the overpriced drinks, and feeling like I was cattle being corralled through the drive-thru line.
Suddenly it hit me: our town deserves better than this. And that evening a dream was born.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t always been easy. As a small business owner already, I didn’t realize that employing young people would be the hardest job I have had yet. Managing schedules and making sure we are fully staffed everyday is a chore in and of itself. It’s hard to find self motivated people that want to work as a team so it leaves me working 7 days a week most weeks.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Major Perk?
As a family of veterans and active military members, we are committed to serving the community that we’re lucky enough to be part of.

In 2025, we were beyond proud to reach the $300,000 goal in in-kind donations and monetary support since opening our doors in October of 2022. This is all with the love and support of our customers who are just as community minded as we are.
Since we opened, we have partnered with more than 100 local non-profit organizations, schools and businesses to give over back to our community.
We send monthly care packages to our deployed men and women serving to protect our freedoms.
We give discounts to active duty military, veterans, 1st Responders and teachers.
What are your plans for the future?
We’re thrilled to announce that Major Perk is expanding and bringing our community-driven coffee shop to the city of White Settlement. Since we are known for locally roasted coffee, friendly service, and a heart for honoring our military, first responders, and local community, Major Perk is excited to put down roots in a city that shares our values.
This new location marks more than growth—it represents our commitment to serving great coffee while serving people. From handcrafted espresso drinks and seasonal favorites to a welcoming space for neighbors to gather, we can’t wait to become part of the White Settlement community.
We’re just getting started, and we can’t wait to share updates as construction and planning move forward.
