Hi Ramika, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey into interior design started almost a decade ago, though the spark lit much earlier. When my husband and I moved into our first home in 2010, I had the entire space decorated and styled within weeks. Friends and family kept telling me I had a natural eye for design and should offer my help to others. Those words stayed with me, and I realized how much I truly enjoyed creating beautiful, functional spaces.
After we settled into our second home, I decided to give my passion a real chance and started a small side hustle alongside my corporate job. My first project came through a friend’s referral, which quickly led to more clients. And honestly, from that point on, the rest was history.
In 2016, just as I began gaining recognition in the Dallas community and on social media, my life took an unexpected turn…I was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer. During those months at home, especially in the colder seasons when treatment weakened my immune system, I felt the power of my surroundings more than ever. That period deepened my passion for design. I started to understand how a thoughtfully created space can offer comfort, calm, and emotional healing. Surviving cancer gave me a renewed sense of purpose and a desire to help others experience that same feeling of sanctuary in their homes.
For the next several years, I continued growing my design work on the side. My husband constantly encouraged me to leave corporate life and pursue what I loved most. His belief in me gave me the courage to take a leap of faith, and in 2021, I officially turned RQ Charming Homes into my full-time career.
Today, four years later…RQ Charming Homes has grown into something more beautiful than I ever imagined. This journey has taught me that when your heart is fully in something, you owe it to yourself to try. Because if you never try, you’ll never know what it could become.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, and I wouldn’t call it a walk in the park. Like any entrepreneur, I’ve had plenty of moments where I questioned myself or felt like I had no idea what I was doing. I’ve second-guessed decisions, doubted my abilities, and had moments where self-doubt crept in and made me question if I truly belonged in this industry.
One of the biggest learning curves has been navigating people, managing different personalities, expectations, communication styles, and emotions throughout a project. Design is incredibly personal, and creating spaces for people requires patience, empathy, and the ability to guide clients through a process they don’t always fully understand. That alone has taught me so much about myself and how I show up as a professional.
But looking back, every struggle became a turning point. Each challenge, whether it was client-related, creative, or business-focused forced me to grow. What once felt like roadblocks eventually became lessons that shaped me into the designer and business owner I am today.
So no, it hasn’t been perfectly smooth, but I’ve learned not to fear the hard moments. They’re where the real growth happens. And because of that, I don’t see struggles as setbacks…I see them as opportunities to refine my craft, strengthen my resilience, and keep me moving forward.

I focus on creating elevated, modern spaces with warmth, soul, and intention…homes that feel just as beautiful as they are functional. My specialty lies in full-home transformations, curated finish selections, and furniture + styling packages that bring a cohesive vision to life from start to finish.
What I’m most known for is my ability to blend modern, organic design with a sense of calm and sanctuary. Clients often tell me that I have a way of understanding not just what they want their home to look like, but how they want it to feel. How do you define success?
I define success not just by achievements or recognition, but by the impact I create and the fulfillment I feel along the way. For me, it’s about helping clients feel truly at home in their spaces, seeing a vision come to life, and knowing I’ve made their daily lives more beautiful and comfortable. Success also means evolving personally, creatively, and professionally…constantly challenging myself to learn, grow, and take on new opportunities. Ultimately, it’s about doing work that aligns with my passion and values, and feeling proud of the legacy I’m building through RQ Charming Homes.
