Today we’d like to introduce you to Renuka Karthiyeri Parappur.
Hi Renuka, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am an IT professional, born and raised in India, and began my career in the corporate sector in 2005. I moved to the United States in 2011 and started working as a consultant.
My husband and I have two children, both of whom attended childcare for nearly six years of their lives. As working parents with full-time 9–5 jobs and no immediate family in the U.S., childcare was a necessity, not a choice. We depended on nearby daycare centers to provide our children with a safe, clean, and nurturing environment where they could grow and thrive.
Over the course of more than 14 years, while balancing our professional and personal lives, my husband and I always shared a desire to build something of our own. Whenever we discussed this dream, we consistently found common ground in education. Another factor that deeply mattered to me was time—I wanted to be more present for my children and ensure I could be there for them in ways a traditional 9–5 job would not allow.
These experiences planted the idea of creating a childcare service. As we spoke with other parents, we realized many shared the same concerns, hopes, and challenges we did. This led us to begin researching the right opportunity. After exploring various franchise options, we found Lightbridge Academy to be the perfect fit in every way. True to its tagline, “The Solution for Working Parents,” Lightbridge aligned seamlessly with our values and vision—and from that moment, there was no looking back.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has definitely not been a smooth journey, but the challenges have been valuable learning experiences. Early on, I had to adjust to the unknowns of the industry. There were moments when I had to step outside my comfort zone and proactively reach out to and connect with many people. Over time, this helped me become more adaptable, improve how I prioritize tasks, and communicate more effectively. Looking back, those challenges prepared me to handle change with much more confidence.
As you know, we’re big fans of Lightbridge Academy of Flowermound . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Lightbridge Academy is a premium early childhood education and childcare center serving families in our local community. We provide high-quality care and education for children from infancy through pre-kindergarten, with a strong focus on early learning, social-emotional development, and school readiness.
As a locally owned and operated franchise, what sets our Lightbridge Academy apart is the personal investment we have in the families we serve. While we benefit from a nationally recognized brand and proprietary curriculum, our team is deeply rooted in the community. We take pride in building strong relationships with families and creating a warm, welcoming environment where every child feels known, supported, and encouraged to grow.
We are known for our commitment to education, health, and safety. Our curriculum balances structured learning with play-based experiences, and our centers follow enhanced safety and cleanliness standards to provide families with peace of mind. Through tools like real-time parent communication and live video streaming, we maintain transparency and stay closely connected with parents throughout the day.
Brand-wise, we are most proud of the trust we’ve earned from local families and the dedication of our teachers and staff. Our educators are passionate, well-trained, and committed to creating meaningful learning experiences that help children build confidence and independence.
We want readers to know that our Lightbridge Academy is more than a childcare center—it’s a community partner. We are committed to supporting local families, contributing positively to the neighborhood, and providing a nurturing, high-quality early education experience that prepares children for long-term success.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
The most important quality for success is empathy. Understanding the needs of children, families, and staff helps me lead with care, communicate clearly, and create a supportive environment. That focus on people is key to building strong relationships and a successful center.
