Today we’d like to introduce you to Richard And Nancy Wallace.
Hi Richard and Nancy, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
This year, Nancy and I celebrate 25 years of marriage. We have five kids and one grandchild, so we live the realities of family life right alongside the couples we serve.
RELATIONSHIPS REIMAGINED® began after years of mentoring and coaching couples. We started in small church groups, sitting with couples in real conversations about real life, and then the work grew. During the pandemic and in the years that followed, we saw an explosion of couples seeking relationship help. The pressure exposed disappointing realities that many couples were attempting to manage privately. That tension made one thing very clear to us. Most couples start out with unrealistic expectations, and no one really prepares them for what comes next.
We started writing a book over 15 years ago. Life happened, and after COVID, we wanted to make sure there was something more for couples who needed practical help. Along that journey, we enhanced our training and transitioned from offering free services to building a sustainable practice. We also evolved our brand from Marriage Reimagined to Relationships Reimagined, a shift that reflected our growing understanding that the work extended beyond marriages to all relationships. We wanted to be intentional about building something that actually helped people in real life, not just something that sounded good on paper. This led us to develop a clear framework, shared language, and step-by-step tools that help couples strengthen the foundations that hold a marriage together.
Over time, that work became the Relationships Reimagined 7 Foundations Framework™, a practical model that helps couples strengthen communication, finances, intimacy, conflict, growth, boundaries, and trust.
We have also authored two books that reflect this work and make it accessible to couples everywhere: We Said, “I Do,” Now What? (Amazon exclusive) and We Said, “I Do,” Now What? The Biblical Blueprint Edition (available everywhere books are sold).
As we worked with couples, churches, and organizations, our work expanded into coaching, retreat experiences, workshops, and assessments. In parallel, we began supporting leaders and teams inside organizations, bringing the same relationship tools into the workplace through team training, leadership coaching, and culture-focused communication work. Today, we help couples and teams move from frustration and confusion to shared direction and stronger emotional maturity. We equip them with the ability to lead their relationships with intention.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. Building a mission-driven brand while protecting a marriage and a family requires constant calibration. We have had seasons where demand grew faster than our capacity, seasons where we had to rebuild, and seasons where we refined our message so it stayed clear, practical, and grounded.
We have also learned that relationship work is personal for the people we serve. That means we carry a responsibility to be ethical, results-oriented, and consistent. We do not chase trends. We focus on what creates measurable progress for couples and what helps people take the next right step in real life.
We have also had to educate the market on what coaching is and what it is not. Coaching is forward-focused, skills-based, and action-oriented, while counseling and therapy are clinical and often focused on healing and past trauma. Clear expectations help people choose the right support, and we are committed to guiding them to the best fit, even if that means referring them to a counselor or therapist.
One ongoing challenge that has also become an advantage: staying disciplined about simplicity. Couples are busy. If a tool is complicated, it will sit on a shelf. We have put real effort into making our work structured, easy to apply, and effective in everyday conversations.
We’ve been impressed with RELATIONSHIPS REIMAGINED®, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
RELATIONSHIPS REIMAGINED® helps couples, leaders, and teams build healthier relationships through clear frameworks and practical skills. We offer coaching, retreats, workshops, and team training that help people strengthen communication, trust, and conflict skills, both at home and at work.
What we are most known for is helping people build relationship habits that actually stick. One of our favorite moments was running into a couple at an in-person wedding years after we had coached them online during the pandemic. They smiled, hugged us, and said, “We still use those tools.” They shared that their relationship felt stronger, their conversations were healthier, and they were expecting a baby. That is why we do this. Our work is grounded in the Relationships Reimagined 7 Foundations Framework™, and informed by research-based training, including Gottman methods.
What also sets us apart is that we do this together. When we coach a couple, they get both of us in the room. Richard brings a male perspective, and Nancy brings a female perspective, so couples feel seen from both sides and guided toward shared language and shared solutions. We also maintain strong relationships with counselors and therapists, so when past traumas or deeper healing work is needed, we have a trusted referral network to ensure couples get the right support at the right time.
We take a modern approach to current relationship challenges, including cell phone habits, the impact of social media, digital boundaries, stress overload, and the way modern life can erode communication over time. Because relationships show up everywhere, we apply the same framework to family dynamics, workplace dynamics, leadership communication, team trust, and conflict skills.
Brand-wise, we are most proud of creating resources that help people regain hope and ownership of their relationships. People leave our work with a clear plan, a shared vocabulary, and a realistic path forward.
