Moved to Fort Worth, Texas with 4x Emmy winning husband and 1883 (Ennis) Series Regular, Eric Nelsen.
During the pandemic, we decided to move our family to Fort Worth to be around my family. I currently work in Los Angeles, so we have an apartment there. When Eric booked 1883 (Yellowstone prequel), we were shocked to find out it was shooting just down the street from us, since he booked it out of Los Angeles. It was a sign from God! We were overwhelmed by the love and support Texas has given our household! We are here to stay!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
During the filming of 1883, our son was diagnosed Piloric stirnoisis. At his 8-week appointment, Mick hadn’t gained any weight in a month and was starting to look discolored and frail. For almost 9 weeks I have felt he had more than just “reflux”. I had tried every trick, going thru 7 different formulas then 24 calorie formula, rice cereals, 2 medications, 2 different gas drops, rigging his bed, sitting upright, sleeping in a shaker, going through multiple clothes, not being able to change his diaper, thinking it was a lip tie, chiropractor, stains covering the carpets, the list goes on and on. He was basically stuck at home because we couldn’t take him anywhere. I went to bed every night crying knowing something was just off. Eric was gone shooting 1883, so I was juggling our 2-year-old, Molly Morgan, and our sick baby boy, Mick. I have many people to thank to lead us to the emergency room to get Piloric ultrasound (mind you, he didn’t check off many of the diagnosis boxes): @drjmackslaughter, @caroline.spalla.md, Dr. Bradford, Dr. Jones, @lilbitsmonogramming @newbornnightingales. And HUGE thanks to @cookchildrens & all the incredible doctors and nurses! You are angels. Always trust your mommy instincts. This surgery has been a lifesaver for our family. He is thriving. Pyloric stenosis is a rare condition in infants that blocks food from entering the small intestine- basically the opening between the stomach and small intestine is being strangled. Incredibly scary. Bringing him home from the hospital for the first time was just a dress rehearsal, bringing him home post-surgery was the real performance!
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I grew up in Texas and haven’t been back since I was 17. Went to college in Ohio, moved to NYC, then to LA… I couldn’t be more grateful for the love we have received by fellow Texans. Everyone has been so opening and welcoming to us.
