Today we’d like to introduce you to Samantha Faries.
Hi Samantha, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
What started as doing a few hairstyles on friends when I was 16 turned into a salon suite where I get to live my dream every day. I’ve been through the wringer, but it was all necessary to be here. I went to hair school right after high school and never looked back. I spent time assisting people in the industry, which lead to some amazing relationships that have helped me get here. Eventually, I started taking clients at a booth rental salon so I could build my clientele. Once I felt established enough, I knew I wanted to take my business to the next level and create my own luxury experience for clients. So, I opened a salon suite in Prosper, TX, called Wild Palomino.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
A lot of people tend to think being a hairstylist is easy. We “just do hair,” but there’s so much that goes into building a luxury experience for clients. From the moment they walk in the door the environment, service, aesthetic, literally, everything plays a part in their experience. I’m not for everyone, and learning that was huge in elevating my business. I can only be as good as I can be, and not everyone is going to like my vibe or who I am. That’s okay; it just makes room for the people who do want to be in your chair.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I have always been known for being the “small-town country girl” and to say I’m proud of that is an understatement. I’ve always loved hair, but I wanted to create a space that felt like home to me. I play lots of country music, have a guitar on my wall, and a strong Southern accent (at least that’s what I’ve been told). All of that, plus we do some pretty bomb hair. As our team grows, we are focused on creating hair goals from blondes, brunettes, extensions, bridal, and more. My space is exactly who I am as a person, and I love getting to share that with my clients and friends.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I’m not one for reading, but currently, Mission for Meaning by Gabriel Conte has been a staple in staying focused as a business owner. I also like to use social media to stay inspired. There are so many talented artist in the industry, and I think we can all learn from someone.
