Inspiring Conversations with Scymentress Williams of Global Race Management

Today we’d like to introduce you to Scymentress Williams.

Scymentress, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started a weight loss journey in 2010. My health was in bad shape and I thought that I would never live to see my future grandkids if I didn’t make some changes. After losing 36 pounds, I used walking to keep the weight off. Eventually, I started running 5Ks, and then 10Ks and then Half Marathons and you guessed it, then the Marathon. I loved the challenge of conquering the 26.2 mile distance as a former couch potato. After running more than 30 marathons, In 2018, had an opportunity to work in the the run specialty industry, so my hobby turned into my career. During this time, I planned several 5Ks and 10Ks. My “end game” was to eventually establish my own race management company. In February of 2024, Global Race Management became a reality. While planning some of the races, I worked side by side with my son. I thought to myself, how cool would it be to make the company a family business that I could pass on to my future grand kids. So, my hobby has turned into a career and then a legacy business. I truly enjoy what I do and seeing those smiles when people cross the finish line is so rewarding.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In July of 2024, I got laid off from my job and 20 days later, I broke my femur during a hike. Despite two major challenges, and not being able to walk unassisted, I was able to host all of my races and in November of 2025, I completed my first half marathon post femur fracture. I have always thrived in extreme situations and this was the most extreme challenge I have ever faced. Femur fracture pain is probably as intense as labor pains. Whew!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Global Race Management is an endurance event planning organization dedicated to empowering athletes and everyday people by providing comprehensive race management services to create memorable events that promote community and health and wellness. We plan 5ks, 10Ks and Half Marathons.

We pride ourselves in being inclusive, where we celebrate every participant and fitness level. We handle every detail from course design, to permitting, to ordering shirts and medals and even making sure that the final finisher gets that coveted banana.

Global Race Management is proud to partner with non-profit organizations to help them host fundraising 5Ks on a budget. We help the organizations set goals and timelines and executing with purpose and passion.

Our motto: “From Start to Finish, Every Step Counts.”

How do you think about happiness?
The smiles at the finish line make me happy! Running is hard, but completing a race is very rewarding and this generates smiles instantly. That makes me happy. Knowing that my legacy business will be able to make future generations smile as well makes me happy as well.
