Inspiring Conversations with Shanda Green

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shanda Green.

Hi Shanda, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I was originally introduced to real estate and the importance of owning a home growing up as a child. My parents owned our family home and had rental properties. In 2015 I began the process of building my very first home, and while going through that process, I realized not many of my peers were homeowners themselves. As the building process went on, I would get all kinds of questions from my friend group, colleagues, and so forth. This is when I realized that more people don’t own homes because of a lack of information and access. This put a fire in me to want to be that source of information as I understood the value of home ownership. The next year I went to real estate school and obtained my license. The process of getting where I am today has been a labor of dedication and determination. I work tirelessly for my clients, and they have been a great referral source for my business.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
The journey has definitely not been a smooth road, but I also wouldn’t expect it to be. I think initially being fresh out of real estate school and getting my license I wanted to rocket into helping with the new knowledge I had but also need experience. I found that it was more difficult to get my first client than I had anticipated, and I didn’t properly prepare for that. It was maybe 8 months before I completed my transaction; I had a listing. In those months, while I was waiting to help my first client, I went to training and classes to gain as much information as I could from agent actively doing the job. This was invaluable as it made me hone in on ensuring I knew how to represent my clients well. After my first listing, I started to slowly but surely gain my clients through working leads from other agents because they saw my passion for helping people and my referrals.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next, you can tell us a bit more about your business.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
My in-depth understanding of the local market trends and strong negotiation skills make me a valuable asset to both buyers and sellers. I have great attention to detail, strong work ethic, and integrity which have set me apart from other agents. One of my clients said she didn’t trust new people in general, but after working with me, seeing my honesty and no judgement on their situation, she has changed her stance on meeting people.
