Inspiring Conversations with Sharde Redmon of Redmon Books

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharde Redmon. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Sharde Redmon was born in Dallas, Texas. She graduated from the University of North Texas with her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. Sharde’s goal is to unlock the potential and build up the confidence in tiny brown and black children who are facing adversities in life. Growing up, she also struggled with the constant question of “Why do you talk proper?”. Sharde hopes to make an early impact to her young readers and to embrace being different!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
The journey has been a roller coaster for sure! The idea of publishing a children’s book pondered in Sharde’s head for about six years before making the move to make it happen. From being ghosted by one publisher to making deliveries with Uber Eats to fund her book, Sharde was determined at any cost to make it happen! My message to anybody wanting to make their dreams come true just do it! Sit down, set intentional goals, create a game plan, and get to work! 

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At Redmon Books, LLC, we create and publish children’s books! We recently published our first book, “Why do you talk so proper?” with a coloring book launching very soon! We are based in Rowlett, Texas, and identify as a black-owned company and are woman-led. 

Our ultimate goal at Redmon Books is to unlock the potential and build up confidence in tiny brown and black children facing adversities in life. 

I decided to write a children’s book over the topic of talking too proper because it didn’t exist prior to me publishing my book. So many children need this book as they’re experiencing these issues. This is a book I desperately needed twenty years ago as a sixth grader. I truly believe if I would have read my current book as a child, my entire perspective over talking “too proper” would have been shaped and molded in a different direction. That is my WHY for my children’s book.
