Inspiring Conversations with Shelly Wade of Beene and Company Salon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shelly Wade.

Hi Shelly, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I began my cosmetology career in the early 1990s while raising young children, learning quickly that resilience mattered just as much as skill. I apprenticed, worked commission, leased my own space, and built my clientele from the ground up during a season of life that required both grit and focus.
In 1999, my mother and I opened Beene and Company Salon—one of the first fully private suite salons in the area. What started as a leap of faith grew into a long-standing business rooted in trust, consistency, and relationships that have lasted decades.
In the early 2000s, I began focusing on hair extensions and quickly realized that many women needed more than added length—they needed real solutions. That realization led me into hair systems and integrations for thinning hair and hair loss, allowing me to help clients I couldn’t previously serve with extensions alone.
Today, my work is highly specialized. I focus on creating natural, undetectable results that prioritize scalp health, long-term wearability, and emotional well-being. What began as hairstyling evolved into restoration and problem-solving, and that evolution continues to shape everything I do.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Like any long career, it hasn’t been smooth—it’s been layered. Early on, the challenge was simply survival: long hours, little money, and learning how to build something from nothing. As the business grew, the challenges shifted to managing people, protecting standards, and saying no to shortcuts that would have been easier but wrong.
In recent years, one of the biggest challenges has been navigating an industry flooded with misinformation and quick fixes, especially around hair loss. Educating clients while undoing damage—physical and emotional—takes patience. But those challenges are also what pushed me to specialize, refine my process, and commit to doing this work the right way.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Beene and Company Salon?
I run a specialized hair extension and hair replacement practice focused on creating natural, undetectable results while protecting long-term scalp and hair health. My work goes beyond traditional extensions and centers on customized systems and integrations designed for thinning hair, hair loss, and clients who need more than cosmetic volume.
Every client begins with an in-depth consultation. I evaluate density, lifestyle, and long-term goals before recommending a method. I work across multiple extension and hair system techniques so the solution fits the individual—not the trend.
What sets my practice apart is restraint and experience. I don’t oversell, rush installs, or use methods that compromise natural hair. I prioritize ethical sourcing, proper weight distribution, and techniques that allow clients to live comfortably and confidently without constant maintenance or damage.
After decades in the industry, my focus is precision, longevity, and trust. The goal of my practice is simple: hair that looks and feels like it belongs to the person wearing it—and solutions that hold up over time.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I work with clients through private, consultation-based services focused on custom hair extensions and hair replacement systems. Each client is evaluated individually to ensure the solution is appropriate and sustainable long-term.
I’m open to collaborations with professionals and brands that value education, integrity, and realistic results—especially those aligned with scalp health and ethical sourcing.
Support comes from choosing quality over quick fixes and helping raise standards within the industry.
