Today we’d like to introduce you to Sierra Pell.
Hi Sierra, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
My photography journey began when I became a new mom in August of 2013. I quickly realized how much my daughter was changing with each passing day. I wanted to hold onto those fleeting moments forever. I began just by capturing her and learning while working another full-time job. I offered free sessions for friends and family to learn from experience and find my style in the process. I fell in love with wedding photography when I began second shooting with associate photographers in 2016. I was always trying to better myself by investing in my education along with upgrading my gear. I continued to grow my business for two years until I officially went full-time in 2018 after I had my second daughter. It was a huge leap of faith for me but I have never looked back. I couldn’t have done it without the support of my amazing husband and clients, who believed in me every step of the way. Now I get to spend my days doing what I absolutely love. I get to meet new people and get a glimpse into their world. I get to travel to incredible locations and be a part of some of the most important moments life has to offer.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
In 2020, after the COVID outbreak, all non-essential employees were required to stop operating and this caused my business to come to a complete halt for a few months. Then in 2021, I lost many family members due to COVID, including my father and grandfather. I had to learn to navigate dealing with grief and the busiest season I had ever gone through. Going through that made me realize even more how precious life is and how important pictures are, especially when they are all you have left.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a wedding and lifestyle photographer who is passionate about preserving memories. Wedding photography is where my heart lives and what I specialize in, however, being able to grow with my clients is the absolute best part of my job. I capture everything from weddings to maternity, newborns, families, and more. I have a studio located in Denison, Texas, and aim to provide everything my clients need. I am different than other wedding photographers because of my knowledge of low-lighting situations. I am constantly investing in my education to bring my clients the best experience possible. My goal is to capture my clients in their most natural state- smiling, laughing, and interacting with the ones they love.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I love working with my hands and building things. In my free time, I’ll often be doing projects and home improvements.
