Inspiring Conversations with Sujey Colunga of Nailz by Sujey / S & A DFW TAX REMEDIES

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sujey Colunga.

Hi Sujey, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
As a teenager, I discovered a passion for beauty and creativity through doing nails. I always loved the idea of using my hands to build confidence in others. Life, however, took me through different chapters — I got married, became a mother, and naturally shifted my focus. It wasn’t until my oldest daughter developed an interest in nails the spark returned. Sharing those moments with her reignited my love for the craft, and from there, my journey began to blossom again.

I started with practicing alongside my daughters and close friends slowly turned into a path of purpose. I have now been a Nail Artist for 13 years, and throughout that time I’ve learned the value of patience, connection, and creating a welcoming space where every client feels valued and understood.

As my passion evolved, so did my desire to serve my community in broader ways. I expanded into entrepreneurship and have spent the past 11 years as both a Tax Consultant and Notary. Whether I’m offering a beautiful set of nails, assisting someone with their taxes, or notarizing an important life document, my mission is always the same to provide care, trust, and genuine support.

Today, I stand as a mother, a creator, and a businesswoman dedicated to empowering others. Every chapter of my journey has brought me closer to who I am meant to be someone who leads with heart and serves with purpose.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I would love to say it was easy, but the truth is, it’s been a road filled with lessons. One of my biggest struggles was learning to trust myself to believe that I was capable, deserving, and ready. There were moments of doubt, moments where life felt heavy or uncertain, but I thank God my partner and my children for grounding me. They have always been my reminder of who I am and why I continue to grow.

Along the way, I learned to never take “no” as the end of the story. I’ve always believed that if one door closes, two more will open sometimes even bigger and better than we imagined. Every setback has shown me something about resilience, faith, and patience. Those challenges didn’t break me; they shaped me into the woman and entrepreneur I am today.
