Today we’d like to introduce you to Tammy Horan.
Hi Tammy, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey to becoming a Travel Agent is very convoluted! I grew up in a home with parents who believed that the best education came from visiting different places and cultures. I had an affinity for history, and famous landmarks, and geography.
However, at the time, I channeled this love into theatre and acting. I am a Musical Theatre graduate from TCU (Go Frogs!) I studied and worked in the theatre industry for many years, and that took me to many different states and countries, including New York City. It was the Big Apple that my passions started to shift to fitness and injury rehab.
After moving back to Texas, settling down, working full-time in injury rehabilitation, finding out I was pregnant with our first child, and suddenly needing to stay home more often with an infant… I decided to interview for a small passion project of planning Disney vacations for families. I grew up going to Disney, and we absolutely love it!
This small passion project quickly took on speed, and it became very clear that this is where I am supposed to be. I was using my experience from moving all over for jobs, vacationing with my parents, researching so many destinations, and a general curiosity in other cultures to craft special vacations for couples and families from all over the country!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Is any big change a smooth road? In 2022, my husband and I went all in on this “passion project.” I was no longer making a full-time healthcare income, and was now an independent contractor. That is very scary to most people! I understand the weight this carried, and use that, and the gratitude I have for my husband and child, to fuel my work. They have made sacrifices for me to be able to chase my dreams!

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was definitely a Type A personality- organized, determined, and always counting down to my next trip. Travel has been a lifelong passion of mine, and I think that comes from my family. My dad is an Army veteran, and both of my parents were Army brats, so from an early age, my brothers and I were taught to value history, adventure, and the importance of remembering where you come from.
At the same time, I had a big personality and a love for the arts. I grew up performing and acting, which helped me become confident, creative, and comfortable connecting with people, something that still serves me every day in my work. I’ve always been that person who loves to plan, organize, and dream big, whether it’s a trip, a project, or a performance.
