I’ve always had a deep love for fragrances, but I could never find exactly what I was looking for. I needed something that could moisturize my skin and leave me smelling amazing all day—without having to layer multiple products. I knew there had to be a way to combine the benefits of a luxurious skin moisturizer with the lasting power of a fine perfume.
One thing that always bothered me about traditional perfumes was the alcohol content. It’s not the best thing for your skin, especially if you’re looking to keep it hydrated and healthy. I wanted to create something different, something that would nourish the skin with rich oils and vitamins while also delivering a fragrance that lasts just as long as a high-end perfume.
During the COVID-19 lockdown, I finally had the time to dive deep into my passion. I started studying formulation, learning everything I could about the benefits of carrier oils and the art of blending scent notes to create something truly special. That’s when Bougie Body Oils was born.
I chose the name Bougie Body Oils because I believe every woman deserves to feel like she’s getting the best—without a big price tag. I’m all about affordable luxury. I want women to indulge in something that makes them feel beautiful, pampered, and confident, knowing they’re using a product that’s as good for their skin as it is for their spirit. Bougie Body Oils is my way of bringing that vision to life.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting Bougie Body Oils wasn’t easy, especially because I’m an introvert who has never been very active or social on social media. I’ve always preferred staying behind the scenes, so the idea of putting myself out there and promoting my brand was daunting. But I knew that if I wanted Bougie Body Oils to succeed, I had to get out of my own way and embrace social media and networking.
Social media has been my biggest challenge by far. I had to push myself to learn how to share my story, connect with people, and be more visible online. It wasn’t comfortable at first, but I kept reminding myself that I had a great product—something I truly believed in. I knew that if just a few people fell in love with it, they would spread the word to others.
And that’s exactly what happened. Bougie Body Oils has become successful largely because of word of mouth and people sharing their love for the products. I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported me and shared their experience with others. It’s been amazing to see how this community has grown, all because people genuinely love the products and want to tell their friends and family about them. Looking back, I’m so glad I took that leap and embraced social media—it’s been a game changer for Bougie Body Oils.
