Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Sammataro.
Hi Tiffany, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My path has been a little unconventional, but I think that’s what’s shaped how I approach work today. I started out in college studying science and went on to work as a research scientist, which taught me a lot about problem solving, attention to detail, and how to think analytically.
After a few years, I decided to take a break and thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail — that experience really changed my perspective. It taught me perseverance, adaptability, and how to stay calm and resourceful in unpredictable situations.
When I got back, I wanted to explore something more creative, so I went to culinary school. I loved the fast pace, teamwork, and the way precision and creativity come together in the kitchen.
Eventually, I decided to come back and help with my family’s HVAC business. It felt like the perfect way to combine everything I’ve learned — technical skills, problem-solving, and customer service — while contributing to something meaningful and close to home
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. Working in a male-driven industry has its challenges, especially as a woman. Early on, I had to work a little harder to earn credibility and prove that I knew what I was talking about. But I actually see that as something that’s made me stronger — it’s pushed me to be confident in my knowledge, thorough in my work, and clear in how I communicate.
Over time, I’ve found that respect comes from consistency, integrity, and the results you deliver. I’ve also been fortunate to help shift perspectives a bit — showing that women absolutely belong in this field and can bring a lot of value to it.
As you know, we’re big fans of Samm’s Heating and Air Conditioning. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
At Samm’s Heating and Air Conditioning, we really pride ourselves on combining family values with professional expertise. What sets us apart is that we treat every customer’s home like it’s our own. We focus on quality installations, honest recommendations, and long-term comfort — not just quick fixes. Our team is highly trained, and we stay current with evolving technology and efficiency standards, so our customers always get the best options available.
Another thing that sets us apart is how we educate our customers. We make sure they understand not just what we’re doing, but why — so they can make informed decisions. Right now, for example, the Green Tax Act has created incentives for upgrading to energy-efficient systems, but those benefits won’t last forever. Waiting to replace an older system could mean missing out on those tax credits, and it could cost more in energy and repairs over time.
So, we really see our role as helping customers make smart, timely decisions that improve comfort, efficiency, and savings — both now and in the future.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I think the HVAC industry is on the verge of some really big changes in the next five to ten years. We’re seeing a major shift toward smarter, more connected systems — equipment that can monitor performance, alert homeowners or technicians to potential issues, and even optimize energy use automatically.
We’re also moving toward greater electrification and efficiency, with heat pumps becoming much more common as technology improves and regulations push for lower emissions. Along with that, new refrigerant standards are changing the types of systems being installed, which means both customers and technicians need to stay educated and prepared for that transition.
Indoor air quality is another area that’s gaining attention — people are more aware now of how air filtration, humidity, and ventilation affect their health and comfort.
