Today we’d like to introduce you to Troy Sage.
Hi Troy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was born and raised in the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan, and honestly, my story doesn’t follow a straight line, which I think is exactly why I approach real estate the way I do.
From a young age I was drawn to music. I started playing drums and writing music early on, and that creative drive has never really left me. But even while music was calling, I was also drawn to real estate. I got my license in Michigan at 20, and by 22 I had my Builders License, working as both a realtor and a builder specializing in kitchen and bathroom remodeling. So I understood property from the inside out, literally.
Then in 1999, life took a sharp turn. I left real estate to pursue a record contract and a full music career in California. It was a chapter I had to live. But by 2005 I was back in real estate, this time as a licensed sales agent in California. In 2009 I earned my Broker’s License and started building my first team. By 2011 I had opened my own brokerage, and from the very beginning my vision was captured in a simple slogan: “From Point A to Point B Covering All Angles.” That phrase represented everything I believed real estate should be; transparent, educational, and built around a custom game plan for every single person we served. Over time that vision grew and evolved into what I now call Real Estate Differently.
From there it was about growth with purpose. In 2017 I expanded into Arizona, earned my Broker’s License there, and duplicated the model. In 2021 I brought it to Texas, where I’m now based in the North Dallas area.
What drives me today is the same thing that drove me from the beginning. Too many agents in this industry focus on themselves rather than the client sitting across the table, and I believe that has genuinely hurt the profession. My mission is to change that, one client at a time, with unsurpassed service and a plan built specifically for each person I work with.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Smooth? Not even close. But I wouldn’t trade any of it.
When I returned to real estate in 2005 in California, I was essentially starting from scratch. No database, no pipeline, no warm leads. Just a license and a belief that if I focused on serving people the right way, the business would follow. That takes a certain kind of stubbornness, and honestly it tested me. But it also reinforced everything I believed about how this business should be run.
Then came 2009. I got my Broker’s License right in the middle of the worst housing crash most of us had ever seen. Most people would have called that terrible timing. For us it turned into something unexpected. Instead of chasing listings in a market that had collapsed, we pivoted our vision toward helping people who were in default on their mortgages. We helped thousands of homeowners navigate that crisis and avoid foreclosure. It was grueling, emotional, and deeply rewarding work. That market didn’t break us, it actually defined us and proved that our mission of transparency and putting the client first wasn’t just a slogan, it was something we could live out even in the hardest conditions.
In 2017 I took another risk and expanded to Arizona. Again, zero database, zero name recognition in a new market. Just our vision and our work ethic. We built it the same way we always had ;one client, one relationship, one custom game plan at a time.
Then in 2021 I made the move to Texas and literally started over again. No contacts, no referral base, nothing. Just a drive to help people and the belief that doing real estate differently would speak for itself. And it has.
I think the honest answer to whether the road has been smooth is this, every chapter of my career has required me to bet on the vision over the comfort of what I already had. That’s not always easy. But when your mission is genuinely about the people you serve and not about yourself, you find a way to build something real wherever you plant your feet.
As you know, we’re big fans of Centric Realty Group at LPT. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
At the core of everything is a simple but powerful belief, real estate done right looks nothing like what most people experience.
My team operates under the Real Estate Differently brand and we are proudly partnered with LPT Realty. That partnership wasn’t a casual decision. LPT Realty shares the same vision we do, providing outstanding service to clients, and they bring two things to the table that directly benefit the people we serve. First, they produce some of the most unique and effective marketing available to expose our sellers’ homes to the widest possible audience. Second, they provide our buying clients with a clear roadmap to structure themselves for a purchase, with a plan, without stress, and with the confidence that they are making the best decision for their personal needs. That alignment of vision is why I chose to partner with them.
Now, what sets us apart, and I want to be direct about this because it matters. The typical real estate agent lists your home, puts it in the MLS, sticks a sign in the front yard, and hopes for the best. That is not what we do. We actually invest in marketing for our clients. Every property we list receives professional photography, HD video production, video syndication across hundreds of websites, blog exposure, social media marketing, billboard advertising, and home staging. We also tap into our national network of agents to expose every listing to buyers that most agents would never reach. It is a true concierge experience from start to finish.
Beyond the sellers, we serve buyers, investors, and clients relocating to the area, each with a custom game plan built specifically for their situation. Our primary focus is the North Dallas market including Frisco, Prosper, Celina, Little Elm, and McKinney, though we have served clients throughout the entire DFW Metroplex.
I am also deeply committed to consumer education. I produce regular video content on YouTube covering everything from market insights to property tax guidance, because an informed client makes better decisions, and better decisions lead to better outcomes for everyone. That educational philosophy runs through everything we do.
What am I most proud of brand wise? That Real Estate Differently is not just a name. It is a standard we hold ourselves to every single day, for every single client, in every single transaction.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
Before we close I do want to speak directly to a few different people who may be reading this.
To anyone thinking about selling their home, I want you to know that when you work with us, you are not just getting an agent. You are getting a full marketing machine dedicated to one goal, getting your home maximum exposure, maximum value, and a smooth experience from the day we list to the day we close. We will build a custom game plan around your specific situation and we will be transparent with you every step of the way. You deserve that, and we deliver it.
To anyone thinking about buying a home or relocating to the North Dallas area, this market can feel overwhelming, especially if you are coming from out of state. Our job is to take that stress off your plate. We will educate you, guide you, and make sure every decision you make is the right one for your personal needs and your financial future. We are not here to sell you a house. We are here to help you find your home.
And to any real estate agents reading this, if you are passionate about serving clients at the highest level and you are looking for a team that actually stands for something, I want to talk to you. Real Estate Differently is not just a brand, it is a standard. If that standard resonates with you, reach out. There is a place for true professionals who want to be part of something bigger than a transaction.
At the end of the day my commitment has never wavered. Every client, every home, every transaction gets our very best. That is what Real Estate Differently means, and that is the promise I show up to keep every single day.
