Today we’d like to introduce you to Umashree Kumaresh.
Hi Umashree, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey into health and wellness coaching really began with my own healing. Like many women, I spent years juggling a demanding career, motherhood, and caregiving responsibilities. I was always in motion—doing, giving, helping—but rarely taking a moment to ask how I was truly feeling. Over time, the constant pace left me feeling drained, both physically and emotionally.
In 2012, I joined a yoga teacher training program, initially to support my fitness goals. But what I found was something much deeper. Through yoga and mindfulness, I began to reconnect with myself. I discovered how powerful it is to slow down, tune in, and truly listen to your body and inner wisdom.
That experience changed everything. I went on to study Ayurveda and eventually became a certified Health and Wellness Coach. I realized there were so many women just like me—high-functioning, deeply caring, but quietly exhausted. I wanted to be a guide and a support system for them, helping them find their way back to balance.
Today, I help busy women—professionals, moms, and caregivers—prioritize their well-being through personalized, holistic coaching. My approach blends the spiritual with the practical. I draw from the science of behavior change, the wisdom of Ayurveda, and the grounding practices of yoga and mindfulness.
What makes my coaching unique is that it’s not just about surface-level health. It’s about awareness. I truly believe that healing begins with awareness, and once we start paying attention—with compassion and curiosity—real, sustainable change becomes possible.
Whether I’m working with someone on energy management, stress reduction, mindful eating, or simply carving out time for self-care, my goal is always to guide them back to themselves.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s been a deeply rewarding journey, but not a smooth one.
One of the biggest challenges was stepping into this new identity. Transitioning from a multitasking professional and caregiver to a wellness coach meant doing a lot of inner work. I had to let go of perfectionism, imposter syndrome, and the belief that I always had to “do more” to be enough. In a way, I had to coach myself first—before I could truly hold space for others.
On the business side, one of the struggles has been educating people on what health and wellness coaching really is. It’s not a quick fix or one-size-fits-all solution—it’s a process of building awareness, making intentional choices, and creating sustainable change. Helping clients understand that transformation doesn’t have to be dramatic to be meaningful has been part of the work.
Another challenge is that many of the women I work with are so used to putting themselves last, they struggle with investing in their own well-being. So, much of my outreach and messaging is about helping women realize that taking care of themselves is not selfish—it’s essential.
And of course, as a solo entrepreneur, there’s always the balance between growing the business and staying aligned with my purpose. It’s easy to get caught up in marketing strategies and lose the heart of the work—but I’ve learned to come back to my “why” whenever I feel off course.
These struggles have actually made me a more compassionate and grounded coach. They remind me that healing—and growth—isn’t linear. It’s a practice.
As you know, we’re big fans of Wellness by Umashree. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I’m a certified Health and Wellness Coach, yoga instructor, and Ayurveda Wellness Counselor. I work primarily with women—especially busy professionals, moms, and caregivers—who are always giving to others and often feel disconnected from themselves. My coaching helps them slow down, create space, and rediscover what well-being really feels like on their terms.
What I do is more than just habit change or goal-setting. I help women tune into their inner wisdom using mindfulness, breathwork, and body awareness. I blend spiritual insight with science-backed strategies, guiding clients toward sustainable change in areas like energy management, stress, sleep, nutrition, and emotional resilience.
What sets me apart is my holistic yet practical approach. I meet clients exactly where they are—without judgment—and support them with tools from yoga philosophy, Ayurveda, and coaching psychology. I believe in small, consistent steps rather than drastic overhauls, and that healing happens when we become more conscious of how we live moment to moment.
I’m most proud of the transformations I’ve witnessed in my clients—women who went from feeling burned out and overwhelmed to feeling grounded, empowered, and clear. When someone tells me they finally feel like themselves again, or that they now know how to listen to their body—that’s everything to me.
I also take pride in creating a calm, safe space where women feel seen and supported. In a noisy world that pushes constant productivity, I offer something quieter but deeply powerful: presence, intention, and mindful change.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Being fully present with someone—listening deeply, holding space without judgment, and truly seeing them—is the foundation of everything I do. In a world that moves fast and often demands perfection, I believe people are longing to be met with care, patience, and understanding. That’s where real transformation begins.
This quality has helped me build trust with my clients and create a safe, nurturing environment where they can open up, reflect, and grow. It’s also something I’ve had to learn to extend to myself—especially on the hard days. I’ve found that when I lead with compassion, whether in my coaching or my business, everything else flows more naturally.
