Today we’d like to introduce you to Zebulan Van Pelt.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I grew up in Dannebrog, Nebraska, a place that instilled in me a deep respect for hard work, integrity, and follow-through. Life on the farm taught me early that quality comes from effort, patience, and pride in what you do and those values still guide me today.
I moved to Colorado in 2011, where I began my journey in the construction industry. I started out in flooring and roofing before finding my passion in painting. It was also in Colorado that I met my wife, who’s been my biggest supporter and partner in life and business.
In 2023 we moved to Dallas together (where my wife is originally from). I fell in love with the people, the pride, and the spirit of this great state. Texans have a way of doing everything with heart, and that’s exactly how we approach things back home in Nebraska. We planted our roots here and built Venture Painting from the ground up, transforming homes, building relationships, and putting our stamp on our community one project at a time.
Every project is personal to us. It’s not just about painting walls, it’s about helping people fall in love with their homes again!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The biggest challenges were building a name in a new city and finding truly amazing painters who matched our standards for quality and care.
Those early years were all about patience and persistence, earning trust one project at a time and building a team that takes as much pride in the craft as we do.
Today, we’re incredibly proud of the talented painters who represent Venture Painting. They are the heart of our company and the reason our work speaks for itself.

Venture Painting specializes in residential interior and exterior painting along with fence staining and cabinet refinishing services for homeowners in the North Dallas area.
What sets us apart is our communication, timeliness and cleanliness. We show up on time, do what we say we are going to do and we take care of your home like it’s our own. And not to mention, we’re fast and efficient so you don’t have to share your home with a painter for weeks on end!
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
What a great question! When I was looking for a name for the company, I wanted something to start with the letter “V” and we found the word Venture. The definition of venture is “a risky or daring journey or undertaking.” I loved it because starting this business was exactly that… a risk and leap of faith that truly paid off. I’ve never been afraid to take risks in business, but when it comes to protecting a homeowner’s space, I take no risks!
