Jamil Fristoe of Dallas on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with Jamil Fristoe and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Jamil, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Honestly, just spending time with friends and family has been bringing me a lot of joy lately. I’ve been trying to slow down and appreciate the little moments.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Jamil Fristoe, and I’m the founder of Salim Body Blueprint, a training brand dedicated to helping people transform their bodies through fat loss and muscle building in just 90 days. What makes my approach unique is that it’s not just about workouts—it’s about creating a blueprint that fits seamlessly into each person’s lifestyle, making results sustainable and empowering.

My own journey in fitness and modeling showed me how powerful the right guidance and mindset can be, and that’s what inspired me to build this platform. Right now, I’m working on expanding into digital tools and resources, like training guides and content, to help even more people achieve their best selves. My goal is simple: to show that with the right plan, discipline, and support, transformation is possible for anyone.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My mother was the first person who truly saw me, even when I couldn’t see myself. Growing up albino, I carried a lot of low self-esteem—I felt different, like I didn’t belong, and even questioned why I didn’t look like her. But she never let me forget that I was her son, no matter what. She would tell me, ‘Your skin may be brighter, but that doesn’t make you any less.’ Her words planted the seed that I had to love myself and embrace what made me unique. Looking back, I realize she gave me the foundation to see my own worth when I couldn’t yet recognize it.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me lessons that success never could. Pain forces growth it shapes you in ways comfort never will. You can’t truly know how to handle life’s challenges without walking through them. It’s like training in the gym: you push your body through pain, and in return, it comes back stronger and more resilient. I once heard failure described as ‘the first attempt in learning,’ and that’s always stayed with me. Every setback, every hardship, is just another rep—each one building the strength to rise higher than before.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What do you believe is true but cannot prove?
I believe that what we perceive as reality is, at least in part, an illusion—there’s far more to existence than we’re able to see or understand. We don’t even use the full capacity of our minds, so it makes sense that there are layers of reality we haven’t yet tapped into. Through experiences like psilocybin (shrooms), I’ve felt moments of intense connection to the universe and glimpsed patterns I’d never noticed before. Those experiences reminded me that there’s a vastness beyond what we accept as ‘real,’ even if I can’t prove it.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
One thing I understand deeply is that there will never be a perfect time to start pursuing your goals or living the life you want. Time doesn’t stop for anyone, and if you keep waiting, you’ll just end up stuck in the ‘what ifs.’ The truth is, you don’t have to feel ready you just have to begin. Start broke, start sad, start angry, start heartbroken… it doesn’t matter. What matters is that you start, because taking action is the only way to change your outcome.
