Hi Jonai , thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What do you think others are secretly struggling with—but never say?
Success, some people don’t want to admit it, but everyone struggles with how to become successful. They have fear of failure, lack of consistency, comfort zone mentality, no clear vision or goals, poor habits or discipline, fear of rejection or criticism, lack of self-belief, not learning or adapting, impatience, or a negative environment.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
As a five-year experienced Cosmetologist in Texas, I specialize in Eyelash Extensions. My expertise has been recognized by collaborations with esteemed lash businesses and stores, including Fancy Lash and GladGirl.
Throughout my career, I have cultivated a reputation for professionalism and versatility. My diverse background encompasses various roles, including assisting my father in our family trucking business, pursuing a degree in Biology of Health Science for Pre-Med Physician Assistant, with Law degree history of Biology of Criminal Science, and engaging in creative pursuits such as clothing design, shoe design, banner and flyer creation, and more.
My current position is a testament to my unwavering determination and the profound connections I have formed with my clients. Occasionally, I offer refresher courses and New Student Lash Courses to individuals seeking to enhance their lash skills. My comprehensive curriculum covers essential concepts, including safety and sanitation protocols, isolation and disinfection procedures, eye anatomy and eye health, hair growth cycles, eye shapes, extension types, lash knowledge, client consultation, hand placements, lash mapping, and taping techniques.
Initially, I harbored doubts about my ability to maintain focus and consistency amidst my multifaceted responsibilities. However, I have discovered that lashing provides a therapeutic experience and aligns perfectly with my passions. I derive immense satisfaction from contributing to the enhancement of others’ appearance.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Bonds break when people feel unheard, disrespected, or unsupported. They’re restored when trust, care, and consistent effort are rebuilt. The lack of trust, poor communication, neglect, selfishness, unresolved conflicts, and inconsistency.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
There has been plenty of time I almost gave up, but I chose to keep pushing toward greatness. I had to fight through self-doubts to accomplish my goals, not just for myself, but to make my loved ones proud. Self doubting myself just because I was taking longer to achieve things, but “time waits for no one/man” . I decided to use my full potential to be able to accomplish everything I desire.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
We Understand the Universe Well Enough – In truth, over 95% of the universe (dark matter + dark energy) is still a mystery. Much of cosmology rests on educated guesses.
Our Observations Are Objective – Data interpretation often depends on assumptions built into models, instruments, and statistical methods. What we “see” is filtered through theory.
Cosmology sometimes overstates its certainty, underestimates its assumptions, and forgets how much of the universe is still unknown.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I’m caring for my clients and pouring love into my business. Serving others not only brings me fulfillment but also expands the purpose and passion behind what I do.
