Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Alexander Karnauch of DFW

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Alexander Karnauch. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Alexander, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I start my day at 5:00 AM. The first 90 minutes are all about setting the tone. I head straight to the gym, where I begin with a walk to wake up my body and get into the right headspace. From there, I move into a structured workout to build energy and discipline for the day. After training, I jump into a cold plunge pool — it’s a mental reset that pushes me past comfort, sharpens focus, and keeps me resilient. By the time I’ve finished, I feel physically strong, mentally clear, and ready to tackle everything from client needs to big-picture strategy.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Alexander Karnauch. I’m the founder of Your Home Expert and Kedem Development. With Your Home Expert, we focus on water damage restoration and high-end remodeling. What makes us different is that we don’t just repair what’s broken — we take the opportunity to make homes stronger, more beautiful, and more valuable than before.

With Kedem Development, my focus is on real estate projects that bring together thoughtful design, quality craftsmanship, and long-term value. Having both companies gives me the ability to approach projects from two perspectives: as a contractor who understands every detail of the build, and as a developer who sees the bigger picture of creating lasting equity and growth.

I started out in restoration, where precision and urgency are everything. Over time, that foundation evolved into luxury remodeling and development work, where we help people not just recover their homes, but reimagine them.

What excites me most is the transformation. I love seeing a house evolve, but even more, I love seeing the impact that transformation has on the families who live there. That’s what keeps me motivated every day.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
What breaks bonds between people is usually a lack of trust or communication. What restores them is honesty, consistency, and showing up for each other.

When did you last change your mind about something important?
Recently, I changed my mind about my mornings. For a long time, I thought I didn’t have the time or energy to commit to a consistent gym routine every day. Now it’s non-negotiable. Waking up early, training, and hitting the cold plunge has completely shifted my energy, focus, and mindset. It reminded me that small, daily habits compound into big results — and that discipline in one area of life carries over into everything else.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would say what really matters to me is my family, my faith, and keeping my word. They know I value loyalty and relationships, and that I put just as much energy into the people around me as I do into my work.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What are you doing today that won’t pay off for 7–10 years?
What I’m doing today that won’t pay off for 7–10 years is building a legacy through hard work. Every day I put in the effort, whether it’s in business, personal growth, or relationships, knowing that the real results show up years down the line. For me, it’s about creating something lasting that my family, my team, and my community can be proud of.
