Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Annette Whitaker-Moss of Dallas-Fort Worth

Annette Whitaker-Moss shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Annette , a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: Would YOU hire you? Why or why not?
Absolutely! I would hire myself because I lead with integrity, adapt with purpose, and remain committed to delivering meaningful, high-quality work. My character is my résumé—and it’s the reason I continue to grow, create, and serve with intention.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am “Rose Bud Imaginations,” a creator of purposeful storytelling—through books, poems, and crafts—that inspires reflection and emotional connection, while promoting clarity, personal growth, and a fresh perspective. My goal is to engage readers with emotionally resonant stories that encourage contemplation of both life’s joys and its challenges. Through intentional writing and heartfelt themes, I strive to foster connection, insight, and a deeper appreciation for the moments that shape us and leave an imprint—reminding us of the beauty in both the good and complex aspects of life.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
A lack of integrity breaks the bonds between people, and a return to truth restores them. It’s crucial to be aware that bonds weaken when people stop honoring their word. Dishonesty, inconsistency, and silence create distance. Trust erodes when actions no longer match intentions, and relationships suffer when individuals choose convenience over accountability. Even seemingly insignificant moments—avoiding hard conversations, withholding clarity, or ignoring promises—slowly unravel the connection.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would tell my younger self that courage already lived in her—because it lived in the ancestors who came before her. If I had known their history, I would have recognized sooner that I carried their strength, resilience, and brilliance in my own hands. I would have walked with more confidence, trusted my voice, and believed that I could create and conquer anything placed before me. I would remind her that she wasn’t navigating life alone—she was moving with the power of generations who had proven that impossible things can be overcome, empowering her to conquer any challenge. I would tell her, “You come from courage. Stand tall, trust your gifts, and know that you were made to rise.”

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes—the public version of me reflects the real me, because I lead with integrity wherever I go. I work hard to show up as the same person in every space: honest, steady, and rooted in peace. I don’t believe in wearing masks or changing my character depending on who’s watching. What you see publicly comes from the same heart that guides me privately. I aim to keep my words gentle, my actions consistent, and my presence uplifting, inspiring others to do the same. I also carry joy and laughter with me—those aren’t performances; they’re extensions of my spirit. I value harmony, so I navigate conversations as a peacemaker, someone who listens, encourages, and seeks understanding. My goal is always to leave people feeling lighter, not heavier. The real me doesn’t hide. She shows up with sincerity, warmth, and a willingness to connect. The public version gives others a glimpse of the same grounded, joyful person I strive to be every day.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Yes, without a doubt! I take pride in my work and thrive in the background, knowing that my contributions are vital to the success of the team I support.
