Hi Carolyn Lee, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I wake up to OLD SCHOOL RADIO an Fm station that plays music from the 70’s onward and sometimes I just lay there for 30 minutes listening ! Coffee …definitely coffee is next with some great home made toasted brown bread adorned with some Brie cheese and my home made jam! Pure heaven! Then I go and exercise unless I have an early morning gig!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Have You Met Miss Jones? Carolyn Lee Jones! That’s me, classic jazz and vintage pop vocalist, recording artist and bandleader. And, this is my second career. FUN FACT…I just won three ribbons at the Texas State Fair for my Fiesta Jalapeño Relish, Cranberry Apple Jalapeño Relish and Tomato Cucumber Dill relish! I love to cook as much as I love to sing and perform. I’m working on a new album to be released in February 2026.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
My first international trip as a Buyer for Federated Department Stores in 1976. I was 25 years old. I went to Europe and the Far East. It was eye opening to see how other people lived from all walks of life.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
You don’t have to be perfect all of the time! Just keep doing your best and things will fall into place.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
I’ve always said to everyone in my various professions both retail and music – what you see is what you get. I’m open, honest and trustworthy. That has carried me far and still holds true to this day. It may be my Midwest upbringing.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
Wasting time unnecessarily on trivial things that don’t really matter!
