We’re looking forward to introducing you to Demetris Elia. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Demetris, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Something that’s always been a big part of my life is gardening. I have not been able to garden for a few years now but this year my wife encouraged me to do so.
Because of that, we’ve been enjoying fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, jalapenos, arugula, basil, oregano, thyme, lavender, and blackberries.
Also found out that thyme, lavender and lemon balm bath teas are more effective than epsom salt for a relaxing bath.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Demetris Elia. I am a doctor of chiropractic and the proud owner of PEAKiropractic and now Aspire Health Clinic.
Our team at PEAKiropractic is dedicated to delivering exceptional chiropractic care and massage therapy to busy individuals that do not have the time to get the care they need. We deliver all our services directly to them.
We recently acquired Aspire Health Clinic in Dallas in order to provide more services and options for care to our patients such as the HOCATT sauna.
HOCATT stands for Hyperthermic Ozone and Carbonic Acid Transdermal Technology and it combines 10 amazing technologies that are used by biohackers to improve their quality of life or as they say, reverse aging.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who taught you the most about work?
It is clear to me that my work ethic comes from both my parents.
My father was a mathematician in public schools in Cyprus, my home country. He would work a full day at the high school, come home for lunch and a quick nap and then continue working private lessons teachign math from 3 to 8pm, Mondays through Fridays. At times, he would even have Saturday morning classes.
On the other hand, my mother worked tirelessly every day to make sure that her 4 childern had everything they needed to succeed in life. Although she was a stay at home mum, making sure the house was clean and tidy, we always had fresh homemade lunch and dinner, and everyone of us made it to our extracurriculum activities in the afternoon. I really don’t know how she pulled this off.
What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
I can very distinclty remember the very first week I started my mobile chiropractic business in 2020, I went to a networking meeting in Grapevine where I met a lawyer. Once I introduced myself and told him what I do, his response was “I know 5 other chiropractors that tried to do the same thing and failed. It seems that this doesn’t work”.
Although painful to hear that other have taken the path I just embarked on and failed, I took it as a challenge. It fueled me to push harder than I thought I could. To be honest, I’m not sure that wound has healed but I’d like to believe that being 5 years in business and employing 4 other people is a good response to that.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
Good or bad, I believe there is only one version of me.
I am the same person whether the person I’m encountering is a billionaire, a small business owner or homeless. There is no reason to put on a facade on. Although it might be hard and seemingly counterintuitive in certain situations, staying true to yourself allows you to sleep easier at night knowing you did the right thing and treated everyone equaly.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I’m hoping people say that I was net positive to society.
I always try to educate and help individuals in any way that I can. Whether it’s business related or just life. I think being in the position to help someone is a privilage and a responsibility. If we all help eachother improve day to day, the world would be a better place.
