Let’s jump in: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
We recently returned from a 7-night Western Caribbean cruise with Royal Caribbean Cruise Line to celebrate our 41st wedding anniversary. Our journey took us to Cozumel, Mexico; Costa Maya, Mexico; and Roatán Island, Honduras. Along the way, we met wonderful people and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We shared many laughs at the comedy shows and were truly impressed by the aqua theater performance.
As Diamond Level Members of the RCL Loyalty Program, we made the most of all the exclusive benefits. Amidst plenty of relaxation, we also reflected on our family business, Generations Empowerment Enterprises, LLC, reviewing our achievements up to 2025 and discussing long-term strategies. Overall, it was a joyful and fulfilling week.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
We are Drs. Phillip and Janice Porter business leadership coaches, AI-Enhanced book development coaches, authors, educators, and founders of Generations Empowerment Enterprises, LLC, a family-owned organization dedicated to helping individuals, families, business owners and professionals build vision, wealth, and legacy across generations.

Dr. Janice, an award-winning educator and trailblazing principal, and Dr. Phillip, a business strategist and author of Profit Powered Partnerships, share a deep passion for helping families and organizations succeed with integrity, purpose, and legacy in mind. Together, they have authored 10 books.

We are currently working on our new book titled “12 Paths to Discovering Your Life pose Journal: A Reflective Guide for Your Vision, Mission and Purpose”. The 12 Paths to Discovering Your Life Purpose Journal is not just a workbook: it’s a self-guided journey of reflection, discovery, and personal transformation. Through twelve life-defining themes such as dreams, faith, gifts, community, and legacy you will uncover patterns, insights, and divine clues that reveal why you are here and how you are meant to impact others. This new book was launched on Monday, November 24, 2025, for the holiday season.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
The relationship that has most shaped how we see ourselves is the one we share with each other. Our personal and professional partnership has been the foundation of who we are and what we’ve built together. Over 41 years of marriage and working together in business for over 30 years, we’ve learned each other’s strengths, weaknesses, talents, and spiritual gifts and we’ve supported one another through good times, challenging times, and seasons of growth. That deep understanding has not only strengthened our bond but also fueled our success in business. It’s through this relationship that we’ve discovered our true purpose and developed the confidence to know that together, with faith and focus, we can achieve anything.
When did you last change your mind about something important?
The last major change we made was in how we approached writing our newest book, “12 Paths to Discovering Your Life Purpose Journal: A Reflective Guide for Your Vision, Mission and Purpose.” For years, we had a comfortable, well-established manual system for writing, editing and designing our manuscripts and outsourcing our book covers. It worked well and had led to several successful publications.
However, as new AI technology platforms for authors began emerging, we realized that the future of writing and publishing was shifting. At first, we were hesitant to step away from what was familiar. But after some reflection, we decided to change our mindset and embrace technology as a tool to elevate our creative process.
We took time to research, test, and learn multiple AI platforms that could enhance productivity, improve design quality, and streamline our publishing workflow. It was a long learning curve but once we mastered the systems, we discovered just how transformative the change could be. Now, we save both time and money while producing an even higher-quality product that our readers truly enjoy. Changing our minds opened the door to innovation, growth, and greater excellence in our work.
We are now sharing our real life learned experience by helping others author and publish their own books using the lasted AI platforms thus savings both time and thousands of dollars.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest lies the business industry tells itself is that you should never hire or go into business with members of your family. This mindset is deeply rooted among many business advisors, coaches, and teachers, yet it’s a false narrative that prevents families from unlocking one of the greatest sources of generational strength collaboration.
If you look closely, the top 10% of generational family-owned businesses and farms quietly do the opposite. They don’t discourage family partnerships they master them. They understand the common pitfalls that can arise in family enterprises and intentionally work with professionals who help them overcome those challenges and establish systems for success.
Our work directly challenges that lie. Through Generations Empowerment Enterprises, we train multiple generations at once to communicate effectively, align around shared values, and operate with structure and accountability. Our personal and professional lives are living examples that families can thrive together in business when they are properly trained and guided. Building generational wealth isn’t about avoiding family it’s about preparing family.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. When do you feel most at peace?
We feel most at peace in this season of our lives because we are truly walking in our purpose both individually and together. After years of identifying, building, and living out our vision, we now experience the fulfillment that comes when our personal, family, and business purposes are all aligned. Each day we wake up with clarity, knowing that what we do matters not just for today, but for the generations that will follow.
Our work brings joy, our partnership brings strength, and our purpose brings peace. Whether we are mentoring others, leading our business, or simply enjoying quiet moments on vacation together, we carry a deep inner calm that comes from knowing we are living exactly as God intended on purpose, with purpose, and for a greater legacy.
