We’re looking forward to introducing you to Her, She NiEtta Reynolds. Check out our conversation below.
Good morning NiEtta, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
When I am photographing, time feels suspended. The act of making images requires me to be fully present—observing details, anticipating movement, and connecting with the environment or the subject. Photography is not just about producing a picture; it is about creating an honest record. Each image reflects both what I see and how I understand it. I approach the camera as a tool for dialogue, one that requires responsibility and respect. To photograph someone is to hold their trust and to represent them with accuracy and care. That process grounds me, challenges me, and ultimately allows me to return with a clearer sense of both my subject and myself.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is NiEtta Reynolds. I am a visual storyteller, educator, and philanthropist who uses photography and creativity to build connection, encourage empowerment, and drive change.
My work focuses on capturing the realities of everyday life—quiet moments, untold stories, and genuine emotion. While my approach is personal and grounded in authenticity, it is also guided by a larger purpose: to inspire audiences, to provide educational value, and to contribute to community well-being.
As an educator, I am committed to fostering creativity and critical thinking. I believe the arts have the power to transform lives, particularly for young people and underrepresented communities. In classrooms, workshops, and mentorship settings, I aim to help others develop their voice and recognize the value of their perspectives.
Philanthropy is an integral part of my practice. I support initiatives that expand access to the arts, promote youth development, and advance educational equity. I believe opportunity should not be limited by circumstance, and I work to remove barriers that prevent individuals from engaging in creative expression.
At this stage, I am broadening my work through print collections, documentary projects, and strategic partnerships that reflect my mission. For me, photography is not only a visual medium but also a vehicle for legacy, healing, and hope.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My parents recognized my potential before I was aware of it myself. They affirmed my voice, my vision, and my strength, even as I was still learning to develop confidence. Their steady belief in me created the foundation on which I continue to build today.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Life’s challenges have taught me patience and resilience, but they do not define me. What sustains me is love, which grounds me, and hope, which propels me forward. Together they shape how I see the world and how I show up in it. They remind me to lead with empathy, to remain grateful, and to recognize beauty even in places where it is easily overlooked. Success has given me a platform, but love and hope provide me with purpose.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
They would say that I value transparency, the kind that creates trust without pretense. They would point to loyalty, because I am consistent in showing up for the people I care about. And they would name kindness—not only in words, but in how I choose to act and engage with others. For me, character carries more weight than status, and love is the principle that guides everything I do.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What will you regret not doing?
Not giving my whole self to my art, my craft, and my creativity.
Not pouring every ounce of myself into the stories I was meant to tell.
Not honoring the gift I’ve been given by fully showing up for it.
I don’t want to leave this world with pieces of my creativity still inside me.
