We’re looking forward to introducing you to Itzel Montero. Check out our conversation below.
Itzel, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What is a normal day like for you right now?
I start of my day by trying a new coffee shop and getting matcha. I edit videos and take pictures at the coffee shop. In the evening I try to exercise either by going to the gym, kickboxing or go for a walk. I end my day by drinking tea and reading a book.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Itzel and I’m a content creator. I make videos for companies mainly in Dallas but my goal is to travel the world and make videos for various places. I typically only make content for coffee shops, restaurants and cute spots. I want to help people find the best places to go to by creating content.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I use to be more outgoing and very talkative but I got criticized a lot and became more quiet and reserved. I want to inspire others to just be themselves and to not care what the world says about them.
When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
I used to think being fragile, kind, shy and quiet where weakness but recently I found out that is exactly what attracts others to me. Real power is kindness
Is knowing when to be kind to people
Is knowing when to be vulnerable.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
I try to be as authentic and as close to my real personality as I can. I pretend I’m talking to a close friend of mine when I do voiceovers for videos. Something that is different between my public and personal persona is that I’m more quiet and prefer to listen when I’m with friends but I am always taking pictures and videos of everything.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I feel like I was born to create. Create content, create videos and create experiences. I have always had a passion for filming and being an influencer has being a great small way to do it.
